    Bingo! The Hemi doesn’t flow enough at idle and the watery stock oil for MDS doesn’t leave enough lubricant film during prolonged idle. Once over 1500 rpm there is more than enough oil thrown onto cam and rollers, but stop and go is ut-oh for 5.7L Hemi.

    I hope for your wallet that the cam/lifter failure didnt send debris tracking through one of your main bearings. That would cause a psi drop noticeable at idle that the oil pump might not be albe to keep up with. It would probably get worse the warmer the oil gets.

    It's a design flaw. Cam and lifters don't get enough lubrication below about 2K rpm. If yourr doing traffic stop and go it's gonna shorten your engine life. There is too much distance from crank to cam gallery and poor designed lube. Above 2K rpm oil gets flung everywhere inside.

    xxx Wife has one. Key is the 3.2L V-6. The I-4 is a dog. 8-spd with V-6 keeps it "zippy." Young folks without kids don't need no fat-ole Grand Cherokee sized 4x4 for snow and mud. Same with old farts with an empty nest.
