Like Justin said, these kids are driving the price up, I expect diesels by 2020 to be 100K+. MADDOG is also correct about GVW, so a 3500 wouldn't be a bad option, Justin is also correct on the duals being cheaper than the singles. In my personal experience USA for in spot on, the 6.7 doesn't have shit on the 5.9. Do you like that body style or the earlier 3rd Gen? I would say look for a 1 ton DRW or SRW (whichever you prefer) in 04-07.5.

2nd gen cummins 4x4 with 250k miles go for over 10k in my area, I could seriously buy 10 gassers of the same yr for that price. Fucking ridiculous.

Just making sure you're aware of your options.

    I'd prefer a 5.9 with a 5 speed :naughty:

    It's called dad's wallet.

I used to work in a tire shop. Guy comes in with his kid. Little flat brimmed shit. Dad tells me, "I want the most expensive tires for his truck." Kid got mad when he found out that didn't mean he was getting MTs. Dad said he wanted the biggest mts we could put on his truck. Kid was still throwin a fit, so I said we couldn't put bigger than recommended, which really set the kid off... totally could have, but I considered telling him no a win against society for me. Lol

I would love to have a 2500 6spd, but life doesn't dictate the need, so wife isn't on board lol. I'm hoping to keep my truck a few more years and get an Ecodiesel then, as long as they're kink free by then.

The kids don't afford it, the parents do. Little Timmy goes and finds himself a brodozer like that one a few posts back. 10+ year old truck for 42k. Goes home and tells dad about this sweet truck and mom and dad go write a check for it.

You're a year younger than me, and while we're not old by any means, things now are already completely different than they were 10 or 15 years ago. I remember having to beg to buy myself a cell phone that could barely text at 17 years old and driving around in a busted Pontiac grand am that I bought myself as my first car. Now, 5 year olds are running around with iPhones and kids are getting 40 and 50 thousand dollar cars for their 16th birthdays, just to go wrap them around a tree, because who cares I didn't pay for it

And we weren't even alive in the days when you had to walk uphill both ways in the snow to get to school lol

this is eerily similar to my exact situation at that age lol

My grand am was forest green! Lost the entire exhaust system (manifold rusted off the block) doing 55 lol... brings back memories!:roflsquared:

I know when my kids (all 3 girls) get to that age, they'll either help me fix up their first car, or pay half. That's the terms I'm setting for them lol. So I guess no diesels for them. But maybe Tesla's will become the next big thing and diesels will go back to normal.

I bet that made a hell of a noise lol

I can't talk much shit about that car though. That thing saw more neutral bombs than any vehicle should have ever been subjected to. She kept on going though lol
