I am seeing some great deals on the 17s out there...but it appears one has a choice of 3 model years right now if interested in a new lease.

Pro's con's of each?

The only big change I think I've seen from 17 to 18 is that at last some 18s have the newer UConnect unit that can handle Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. There are also a few special editions available for the 18s that aren't for the 17s.

2019 is a completely different animal. I think it is better in almost every way to the 4th gen, but it is a completely new design, so reliability may not be as good as a 17-18. You also won't get as good a deal on a 2019, as they are the new design (at least not until model year end clearance).

I noticed that the 2018's don't come with the 9 speaker Alpine, at least up through Laramie trim. It's a $495 option for 2018 on the Laramie. Really like the Sport trim option on the 2019 Laramie. May just keep mine for a few more years then go for a 2020.

I weighed all options (waiting for a 19, an 18 or a 17) I took the 17. I liked the 18 Harvest edition but I was able to add the grille and mudguards to my 17 and got an awesome deal on it vs. the 18. I got the nav and really don't care about android auto vs. the money saved. I like the 19's but again the deal was on the 17

18s on up are even harder to tune... If you want to mod then the 17 is the way to go

My 2018 Laramie has the 9 speaker alpine system as well as the new uconnect system for Apple car play. I wouldn’t get a 19 bc of the redesign. Going to take a few years to get the bugs out and with the new electronic assist I can see that being an expensive issue.

I got 9k off my 18 Laramie in DEC. With no money down I’m paying the same per month as my 14 express. The 18 has the alpine system, full leather, heated and cooled seats/steering wheel, 8.4 NAV with CarPlay and lots of other things like the 8spd that my 14 didn’t have. Big jump from a 43k to a 53k Truck. So far I like it but don’t care for all the extras but I’ll take them.

I see a few years of people being test dummies for the new design. I love everything about it except the front end and the electric drive. I also can’t believe they didn’t improve the engine power rating.

Is your Alpine lasted as standard or a $495 option? Every 2018 I’ve looked at didn’t have it listed as standard equipment which is why I’ve been leaning towards the 2017.

I've always lived by this 'rule'. but considering my 2015/4th gen has been out for a while and they still haven't worked all the bugs out of it, a 19 may not be that big of a risk. At this point in automotive technology, I'm starting to think the first year bug issue isn't as much of a deal as it used to be. based on my experience, unless something has been glaringly overlooked, most fixes can take 2 or 3 years to happen. of course having said all that, electronics is some scary sheet!

I just looked at the copy of the window sticker and it’s not even showing the alpine as an option. Just the 8.4 nav as a $795 option but then taking away $400 for Laramie equipment etc.

Here’s a pic of the window sticker options.

I would agree but this is a whole new truck. Not one thing is tested and proven except the hemi and 8spd and prob the rear. Whole new frame, suspension, electric drive etc seems like a lot of critical new stuff. Hopefully they got it right but I still prefer to wait. I also don’t plan on getting a new truck as once this lease is up I plan to finance. I’m less worried about the suspension and frame and the interior looks awsome Including the 12+ speaker systems. I don’t like the electric drive or stop/start (my wife’s Jeep has it and I have to turn it off every time I’m in the car) and not a fan of the front end styling. But to each there own... it’s a bad ass truck minus the few gripes I have with it... would still get it over a Ford :)

I may buy a new 2018 this summer as I'm not to hyped on the new 2019's yet, and the electric bothers me. So love the looks of a 4th Gen, so may buy a new Night Edition or Sport.

The only time I’ve seen the Alpine on the 2018’s I looked at, was in the options column for $495 ! Sneaky. I noticed my owners book cover is now vinyl. I think my 2015 was leather.

Sticker on my '16 Laramie lists the Alpine as standard equipment. I thought the leather buckets were standard on the Laramie but guess not, was $500 option on the '16. Other notable options on mine were Posi/Anti-Spin @ $395, Sunroof @ $995, Spray-in Bedliner @ $495. Everything else on the sticker was pretty much the same.

I work at the Hyundai plant in Alabama and I can tell you that the first thousand can be a little rough
