I've been looking at a similar truck here in Georgia. It's a 6.4, 2wd, but otherwise basic. What kind of mileage are you seeing from your 5.7? I know not to expect much more than maybe 14 city and 18/19 highway with the 6.4, at least that's what I've read.

Also curious as to what you paid for yours.

There are a lot of factors deciding how the 6.4 is going to suck gas. Hills and wind will hurt it worst in my experience. I have not seen anything more than a .5-1MPG decrease with the 35s. And that is only really apparent with highway driving. Right now I'm doing 13-14MPG average with mostly stop and go and some back country roads. Hit over 16 on an 800 mile trip.

That's not too bad. Do CAI's and freer flowing exhaust help on the 6.4s at all? I know the CAI doesn't do a ton for my current half ton.

And I was hoping to get some aftermarket 20's with 33's down the road that are maybe -44 offset or so. Other than that, the idea of a work grade truck to protect against my kids' ability to make messes sounds like a good idea haha.

Custom tunes help the 6.4 just as much as they help the 5.7 - guys who have them tuned swear by it.

I don't doubt that. I just know that myself, I'd probably never spring for a full tuner. Hard to do larger mods like that with 3 kids. If it were a diesel, I'd consider it more. I'd rather put that kind of money into different rims / tires.

i put a flowmaster 50 series muffler on my tradesman the day i bought it. the factory school bus muffler has a valve in it. the thought of that bugged me, so i replaced the muffler. very slight improvement in driving, but at least i can hear the truck.

i also recently re installed my factory air cleaner/box. took off a k/n - which technically isnt a cold air intake, but i swear the truck runs better with the factory airbox on it.

cheers comrade!

Average 16, on highway trips I'll get 18-19. Both hand calculated.

Paid about 34k for it.

Thanks for the info!

That's better mileage than I thought from a 5.7. About the same as the 6.4. Glad to know I wouldn't regret buying a 5.7 if I found a good deal.

The 5.7 Hemi, especially with 4.10 gears, has plenty of muscle to get the job done. My buddy rented an excavator to help tear down his dad's old rental. Their Sierra 1500 was definitely not up for the challenge, so in came Betsy [emoji41]hooked up the 11,000lb trailer and Bobcat to her yesterday. She took it like a champ!

Yeah I will probably go with the KO2's. They've worked best for me, my area, and my driving style.
By chance does anyone know the offset of my stock wheels? Trying to get an idea of what new wheels will be like

Stock 17" steelies have a +45 offset which is pretty hard to find these days in aftermarket rims. +20-25 will still keep the factory tucked tire look and still give room for a larger tire.

Got the Westin winch tray today. Haven't decided if I want the chrome face plate for it. Ordering the winch tonight!

Westin 12.5k is on the way, should be here Tuesday! My lady's duramax seems to find itself in the snowbank at the bottom of the driveway a couple times a week every winter. Hopefully this setup will save me some shoveling.
