Please advise. I have a 2004 ram hemi crew cab 4wd. Truck has a little over 100000 miles. The truck starts fine when engine is cold. After engine is at operating temperature, I have to hold accelerator down to start. I have recently replaced coils and plugs. A few minutes ago I tried a tps reset by turning the key to full on and off three times. After third turn, the engine fired up after cranking longer than usual. There was a smell of fuel after I turned the engine off. I replaced the EGR two or three years ago. I use oe Champion copper plugs. Have not replaced plug wires. Sometimes engine starts after being warmed up, times I have to step on accelerator. In the past, I have run Seafoam through the vacuum line and tank. Lots of smoke fills the air. Also the codes pulled in the past have been p0300 and p0305 which I know are multiple misfires and cylinder 5 misfire. Once in awhile the CEL comes on but goes off after a day. I use 87 octane fuel. Driving...I drive about ten minutes one way to work on the freeway between 55 and 60 mph. More city driving than freeway. I live in central Texas if that matters. Never replaced crank position sensor or cam sensor. Fuel injectors not replaced. I use full synthetic oil and Fram filter. I have a Chilton manual. <br />

I was actually hoping there was a response on this thread as I have the same issues, my 04 has 180,400 miles and I have had the air flow sensor replaced, had a Dodge "guru" go through it and found nothing.

Problem still remains. Next I am going to replace one injector at a time. Adding the Redline has caused my fuel consumption to go down considerably

What is the iac? I have pondered getting a thorough diagnosis and if possible correcting the fault myself

He has a 4.7 vs the 5.7 hemi you are working with. I don't think we have an IAC on the Hemi.

Idle Air Control valve.

Ah, that is why my Chilton manual showed no IAC

Not sure but you should be able to pull up your truck on rockauto under fuel and air if it has one listed to fit then you have one

So Mikecollins, have you any suggestions for my engine fault? Starts fine when cold and the air temp is low 70s. Sometimes a quick start is possible at operating temperature and other times I have to mash the accelerator. I replaced the crank and cam sensor plus all the coils.

Since air temp seems to affect your i would check the manofold air temp sensor, on the 4
7 ot is just rihjt of the throttle body

Map sensor is directly in front of intake manifold along with coolant temperature sensor. Sorry, I didn't realize this is an old post.
