That muffler looks like a FlowMaster 40 series maybe. I had almost the same set up on my 2007 4.7, but a hole rusted in it. Now I have a Cherry Bomb Vortex...MUCH better sound and a LOT less cab drone. Especially on the highway. Honestly you could have a muffler shop weld on the rest of the pipes and tips angled out behind the tires for about $100-$150. That's just my $.02 though.

^True, the tips are gonna be most of the cost. Being you are thinking of going behind the tires deff pay the extra for stainless steel tips. Will hold up a ton better.

I would have to say for behind the tires at least a 2.5" diameter rolled angle cut stainless tip. Be careful about size, too small looks goofy and too big looks like an abnormal growth...

Here are some links to tips like above mentioned and prices:

Exhaust Tips - Round Exhaust Tips, Stainless Exhaust Tip, Square Exhaust Tip, Oval Exhaust Tips

MBRP Stainless Exhaust Tips, Angle Rolled Exhaust Tip

Flowmaster Rounded Exhaust Tips - Rolled Angle Cut Round Exhaust Tips by Flowmaster

There are lots of tips out there, just Google images search: Dodge RAM dual exhaust tips or something similar and check around the site for some more ideas. What really matters is what makes you happy, you are the one looking at and driving your rig everyday.

Personally I'd rather take my truck to a muffler shop that specializes in exhaust over a general mechanic, it would probably be a better job. You may have a really good mechanic though. Either way its not going to be a difficult job, just a few inches of pipe and a couple of tips. Also, muffler shops usually have a much wider variety of parts available in the shop versus having to order them.

What's good about muffler shops is that they will make the pipe fit. They take their straight pipes and bend them themselves to fit perfectly so you could probably find a way to have them do almost anything you could possibly think of. Good luck! Let us know when its finished, pics are always welcome here!

I don't mean to thread jack but I am debating doing a dump exhaust. How do you mount the muffler and would you cut the resonator out as well? What muffler would you recommend
