So, my stepdads Ford has been having many many issues (already replaced the engine, and some other stuff is going wrong now), and he's looking to trade it in. Either for a newer Ford, Cummins, or a Tundra. (not sure where the Tundra came from). What exactly could help sway him towards a Cummins?

No urea fluid

This **** is not free so it will save him money with every oil change.

Most reliable engines made ever.

Ford already proved what they have.

Contrary to commercials and general population perception a gas pickup can never do what a diesel can with such ease.

Most factory torque at a lower RPM.

It is in a Dodge the brand you see doing the work not just talking about it.

ford has a new engine this year so you might want to give ford a few years to work the kinks out cummins has been around for a while, so the only diesel i would buy is a cummins.

Urea really isn't that bad. When you break it down it's give or take whether it costs more or not. If your actually working the truck and it's uses mostly passive regeneration you'll hardly use any urea fluid. Instead of def urea fluid the 6.7 cummins uses diesel fuel in its dpf. If the trucks constantly going into active regen it can use alot of fuel, even a couple gallons at a time.
I was talking to some of the cummins ISX engineers at school not long ago an they were tellin me that rams will start using urea fluid when the start adding scr scrubbing to the ISB engines.
The 6.7 ford was new for 2011 and has actually been pretty impressive.

Another reason for cummins is its the only one backed by a manual transmission anymore.

How about the fact a Cummins will do a MILLION MILES without a rebuild!

Very few Chevy's or Ford's have done this...

I would rather burn diesel which I can buy at nearly any station than urea which can be hard to find. The 4500 and 5500 use it already. The best Cummins were before hard core emissions anyway but I would remove whatever I could. Ford still does not have a proven diesel it takes more than car and driver to convince me.

You usually get about 5000k give or take from 8 gallons or UREA fluid so pretty much top it off with an oil change. It's is actually very readily available anymore

So, he went and test drove trucks today, and hes getting a Black Laramie 4X4 Ram 2500 with a dark slate interior. They're still looking for one at dealerships, the closest one is like 500miles away or something. So hopefully he'll have it soon. First Mods will be a lift with black wheels and nittos. Don't have any pictures as he doesn't have it yet. But it'll be similar to this.

Thanks Dave!

There is a ton of new stuff coming out for the 2011 & 2012 trucks. A lot of aftermarket support for the offroad products too. Either way we can help that truck out regardless of the power you choose to make!
