Hey guys, I have 144,000km on my 2011 Ram 5.7 hemi 6 speed tranny and wanna know how long the transmission should last if I’m flooring it occasionally ...? Keep in mind I said kilometres, so let me know if your talking miles.

Hey Olipop20,
i have the same car and have a question.
Do your display show the 6th gear when in manual mode, mine shows only 1-5?
My transmission acts somehow unexpected, when i am cruising at 50 miles and i step of the accellerator pedal it feels as my transmission is shifting down instead of going in overdrive.
Chris

Mine goes all the way to 6, but I haven’t noticed anything with the cursing at 50... it has a little lag but I’m pretty sure all rams do and I think it’s also to do with the mds kicking on and off...

With proper maintenance, that transmission should live to between 175K to 200K miles (281,*** KM to 321,*** KM).

The occasional hard acceleration won't hurt it but torque shock, lack of maintenance and heavy towing might decrease that mileage.

Well olopop20, I do not know enough information to give any type of estimation. How was the truck cared for? Even knowing that without seeing a fluid test current wear along with a bunch of other parameters could not tell you when you are going to have a mechanical breakdown. If I could look at a few words and say you roughly have 89k miles "144km" with the variation of driving you described you have 10984 miles until breakdown I'd be a very rich fella. Take care of it and it will take care of you.

And it has barely seen dirt roads. Mainly a 2 hour drive to the city and back each day for work

No. I did not say 11k miles I said it is not possible to diagnose the approximate detonation of your transmission from and online application /forum.

Yeah, it's not what I said. I said I could not give you any type of estimation and was further speaking on the ridiculous question why it could not be answered.

I had 180000 on mine when I blew the 5.7. Trans was still working just fine.

Mine, I think was a fluke. The oil pump quit at 80 mile an hour. So I think the motor would have gone longer if not for that

I think if you refrain from full throttle down shifts it should last 200k+ the 6spd has technically been around for quite some time as it started out as the 45rfe in 99 and on to the 545rfe and now it's the 65 rfe. So they have been around for a while, they just don't like full throttle down shifts.
