Truck idles at about 600. But recently when sitting at idle for more than 5 min. After it's already warm ( grocery store and waiting for the wife). The truck will surge from 600 to 750-8. It haven't died yet. Or even sounds like it will. But I've diff noticed it more frequently. There are no dodge dealers here. Only a. Ford. So I'd like to try to trouble shoot my self before going there. Truck has a fresh oil change. And clean intake filter. 36k miles

Yeah mine does that to from time to time. Not sure what's going on. I just figured it was something dodge did. It's done it from the day I got it. I'll ask my dealer at next oil change

Check your throttle body to make sure there is not any oil buildup on the back of the blade. If you have a catch can, this should not be an issue. Without the can, oil will buildup on the back of the blade and cause a rough idle.

Also, spark plugs are recommended to be changed at 30k miles. With you being at 36k, its probably a good idea to take care of that as well.

When i had my 03 spark plugs had never been changed and it had 100k miles and it was doing the same thing until i took it to the dealer and got them changed. It felt as if the truck was struggling at idle.

I did the plugs at 30k. Before I drove cross country. Oil still looks like new and I just did the air filter

I didn't notice my idle surging until after I installed my PTB but after un-installing and reinstalling it I realized that's just how she idles. Always has. If that's the worst thing that's wrong with her, I'm happy.

Same here. My 2010 did it from day one and I traded it at 175,000km. Haven't really noticed it yet in the 2013. I think it's normal.

I believe it is the ECM adjusting the idle for the conditions. Mine does it for a while when just warm, but stops if I really get it up to operating temp. There is a specific stop light I hit on the way home. Idle gets rough, up, down etc. Five minute later at the next light, smooth as glass at 600rpm.

I had the same problem after installing the supercharger. Turned out to be a battery problem. Seems as if the electronic fuel injection needs a steady flow. My original battery would not keep the constant voltage and after it was replaced it has not happened since. I guess it couldn't hurt to try it and see if it helps. I never would have thought that the battery would fix it, but it did. Good luck.
