I also recommend doing a full tune up. Doing one on my old 06 gained me nearly 2mpg, all hand calced

I'm not to sure about the plugs honestly, I'm just going to assume that they are factory
change the plugs every 30.000mile intervals, maintenance is key for a happy car.

If you haven't changed spark plugs, what else have you not changed? Air filter?

Replacing my 3 year old original tires on my 2015 6.4 2500 cost me a little gas mileage, not sure why, according to the dash display. It would probably would be within the margine of error doing the fill and refill method. When I ordered the truck I wadn’t interested in economy that much. I did however opt for the 3.73 gear.

I have 2011 Quad cab w/121K and I get 17-18 city and 20+ freeway. The last tuneup, I put Iridium plugs in.

Synthetic blend oil changed every 3K and air filter as needed.

I seem to get better mileage on the freeway with speeds of 70+ with cruise set.

As Stefan N said, maintenance is key for a happy car!

My 2014 Ram 1500 5.7l will get an honest 22.5 steady on the road at 70mph with cruise control on! Dash readout shows 24-25 mpg. My around town mark is in the 18 mpg range calculated - not dash readout which is always about 2 mpg too high. I have a light foot on the gas and don't usually carry loads. My worst ever mileage was around 16 mpg on the road towing a loaded Uhaul 6x12 .

On a very long trip on the flat lands keeping my speed around 70 mph or less I actually saw 20mpg displayed momentarily. I might have even had a tailwind. A real Woohoo! Moment.

In San Francisco, if I don't leave the city, I get 8 MPG on my 2014 1500 5.7. I go through tires and brakes 12-15k miles and the bottom of my lead foot has worn through the floor mat. It was about the same with my 2006 1500 5.7. All highway, I get about 17.5. That's all hand calc, not the trip computer, which always adds an mpg to the total.

I have a 2013 5.7 hemi with a regular cab and driving around town I am lucky if I get 12 mpg's. Sometimes 10 to 11! I have 50 k miles. I have only calculated it with the digital readout in the info center. Going try to do it manually next time

My 2013 Ram Quad gets around 12 if I stay in town. On the highway I can get up to 20. 5.7 355 gear 6 spd.

When I had my 2015 with stock gears the EVIC showed 17.5 at 65 mph and hand calculated out a little less than that on trips. Around town was 12.5-13 hand calculated. Pretty disappointed - so I sold it and bought an EcoDiesel - now I just wave at gas stations when I drive by :D

Yea I see posts like this at times and quite honestly I dont believe it. Never seen these mileage out of a V8. I have had 4 5.7Ls. My 09 1500 crew got the best mileage and had at least a 3.55 rear, but more than likely a 3.73 based on the pickup. Steady 75 it would get 18.5 best tank. combined with about 70% freeway 15.3. I have hypermiled and gotten 18.8 flat florida roads at 65mph.

My Aspen was 17 on the highway best case. it has a 4.10 rear.

03 5.7L 2500 3.73 gear was around 16 highway.

My 16 2500 5.7L is around 15.5-16 at 75 flat florida roads. It has 3.73 gears

You are not going to get over 20MPH in a big truck going 80mph. Dont believe that friends not with todays technology. I drove the 8 speed and I hated it. all that shifting builds up heat and is annoying to me. Not my deal.

100% totally agree that 20 MPG at 80 is a pipe dream. Not happening. If I baby mine at ~70 MPH with no wind on a flat stretch I might see 19. Not saying others may vary, but 20 MPG at 80 MPH I am not buying. I do a lot of highway and city driving, if I can average 15-16 I’m a happy camper.

and of course, if you are looking for that kind of mileage, you need a smaller vehicle. I prefer something big and will just suck up and pay the bill. Its interesting though when you compare a 1500 crew and a 2500 crew mileage; all the weight of the running gear; big 8lug wheels and brakes, 10 ply tires and no cylinder cut out the 2500 is 2.5mpg worse. big penalty for the beef!!
