you will regret the 4:10 when your always filling up.

Not sure I agree with this. The differences between the 3.73 are very slight and either one is still a pretty low gear for the truck. Several members have gone up to 4.56 and love it.

With all the daily MPG micro-managing, that for some reason is a HUGE topic on a full size truck forum :), I've never heard anyone even mention the difference between the 3.73 and 4.10 in the same breath as MPGs. I think you'd be hard pressed to even notice with that slight of a change. At 70MPH I doubt the difference is even 200RPM.

Some of the guys that went to the 4.56 actually reported improved MPGs during city driving due to the relatively tighter gear spacing and just better shifting. The gearing and tranny in these trucks really does kind of suck and is only made worse with lower gears.

I totally agree to get the 4.10 if possible but I don't think it's going to be a landslide change either way.

Do you mean to say HIGHER gears (lower numerically)?

i've owned 2 6.4 trucks now, and tow a 12k boat (full) with no issues at all. tongue weight is right around 1800 lbs. my last truck was lifted 6 inches with 35s and i could barely tell a difference really, maybe a little more squirrely. both trucks have the 3.73.

To be honest, my 1 ton 4with 4:10 gears and 6.4l does fairly well with mileage. Towing I get 9-10, city 11-13, and highway 15-17mpg. I tow our 9000lb trailer around all summer. The winter blend of gas in Michigan plays as much a mpg killer than anything...

This has been my experience as well with my 2014 with 3.73s.....about the same mileage.

My 2500 w/4.10s is about the same. I would call my hwy mileage 16-18, but that’s not much difference. If I can set the cruise control at 67 or under the MDS is on quite bit.

Meh, get the dealer to install and warranty a set of 4:40 to 4:88 gears or wait for the redesign, prolly going to be a 8 speed or 10 speed in it. But the truck in its current state won’t disapoint that’s for sure. Just remember it’s a HD truck, not a race car, although it drinks like one and can be made to move pretty damn good.

Yes exactly.....SURPRISINGLY good for a heavy HD truck.

I've had a few 2500 HD's with the 6.4L. 3.73 or 4.10 negligible difference on mileage. Significant difference in towing characteristics. 4.10 hands down.

Has anyone seen a dyno for 6.4/3.73 vs 6.4/4.10?
