2016 crew cab, uconnect 5.0 non alpine, need to know where to tap the rear door speakers.
Are they ran together down one side and then cross ? or do they run independently on the left and right?
I plan to tap them for an AudioControl LC2i.

I tapped into mine in the rear doors at the speaker. I only needed to tap into one side for my amp though.

If you move the passenger seat forward and pop off the lower b-pillar trim it is easily accessible there. The wires will be the only ones twisted together in the harness.

exactly. just pop off the B pillar cover and you'll see a pair of coloured striped wires twisted together....those are the speaker wires. you can tap in at the b pillar...no need to tap at the speaker itself. that's just extra work and a pain in the ass.

Thanks for the info. I'd like to tap both sides in order to have left and right separation should I later want to run the mids and highs off an additional amp.

I got my project going today. Ran power from battery . spaced up seat. Slid in the fox box. found a spot for the amp. Just need some warm weather and no rain long enough to tap the door speakers and wire in the LC 2i and find a ground .

I just installed an amplifier on my factory 2017 8.4 uconnect. I installed the LOC behind the radio. Its very easy to take the dash apart to get behind the radio. I also installed an LED push button in the console under the HVAC controls which i tied to the remote wire of the amplifier so i can easily turn on/off the amplifier. Its also nice to have a light there to brighten that cubby!

So i tapped into the wires into the pillars and ran both down each side and back to the rear seat and connected them to the LC2i. Then i got side tracked by installing new kicker dash speakers and blacked out tail lights. Maybe ill get the power and ground blocks installed sooner or later.kickr.jpg kickr2.jpg

So are the other wires to tie into the amp behind the factory radio (remote, constant12v). I need to tackle my setup soon

For my remote i tapped into the 12v of the cigarette lighter; it was easiest for me in respect to the location in which i installed the led push button switch.

i dont see why not. the remote wire does not pull much amperage to turn on so i would believe it is more than fine.

I used quick splice to connect into it. Here is the harness of the cigarette lighter circle in blue. On my 2017 I had to remove the center console first, than the dash. Very easy and only a few screws; the rest of it was held in by push pins. Red wire was positive, Black negative on the cigarette lighter.

No problem! I’ll send the link tomorrow of how to take apart the center console and dash. I believe the 16 is the same as the 17.

If you don't want to take all that apart the back of your console comes apart.. just four push pins, mine came off really easy. I spliced into my radio for my speaker wire but then took that off to route my rca cables thru console and then under carpet to rear of cab.Screenshot_20180412-082908.jpg

No just tap them at the back doors and you can just put the lc2i back there. Ive just been waiting on my power distribution blocks and a set of decent short RCAs since i dont need 5 meter ones to run from the front but a 1 foot set since the amp is by the lc2i and speakers. Amazon has arrived today, but im working late again. The only long run youll have to make is the main power wire from battery to back.
