I've been looking at the '18 2500's and found a few things that have been updated for this year model. Here is what I have found:

- Uconnect

-- 8.4 models are no longer produced by Harmon. New units are now made by Panasonic.
-- Android Auto and Apple Carplay are included on both Non-Nav and Nav units
-- 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot is now standard instead of 3G
-- Higher screen resolution
-- All models now have backup cameras standard
-- Pinch-to-zoom and swipe similar to a smart phone experience AI

- Bed Lights

-- There is now a switch in the bed to control the bed lighting.

- Body & Chassis

-- Stronger steel mixture in frame
-- Some additional vertical body panels made from aluminum

- New Editions and colors

-- New top of the line Tungsten Edition
-- New Harvest Edition aimed at farmers-- available in Case IH red and New Holland Blue
-- Sport trim has updated appearance features

- Engines

-- They turned up the wick in the 3500 Cummins to a class-leading 930 ft lbs of torque!

This is by no means an all-inclusive list, it's just what I have found. Please feel free to add to this!

I didn't see any other than dropping the 5.7 from the HD lineup. I'm sure they'll wait to roll those out with the '19 refresh too.

What, no John Deere green??! :)

I'm surprised they dropped the 5.7 from the HD lineup. Did anything replace it, something new?

Haha! I know, right? That would require an "acquired taste" for sure. JD Green with yellow 20's lol

My thinking on the 5.7 drop is that the two really aren't that far apart in numbers, so there's really no point in keeping both gassers.

With the rumors of the 5.7's demise, it'll be interesting to see what's on the horizon. I think they'll follow suit with other OEMs and concentrate on 6-banger turbo gassers and smaller CTDs.

HD trucks won't be part of the DT (1/2 ton) refresh in 2019. 2020-2021 is what's been stated most recently. Dropping the 5.7 on HD models makes sense since it's considered a "commercial grade" truck engine by FCA, whereas the 5.7 is not.

I heard from dealer when ordering my '17 that the 5.7 just wasn't selling. And by '17 they already made it (6.4L) standard no charge engine in Laramie and up. Chrysler probably had already planned to phase it out when they introduced the 6.4L.

It didnt take long for the market to realize the little extra coin for the 6.4 was well worth it. The 5.7 in HD services was adequate and did it's job but the 6.4 is the superior engine for multiple reasons. It makes sense for them to knock off the 5.7 now too, since they are probably already working on the next iteration of the 6.4.

From everything I have read, it seems if any Hemi is being knocked off in the somewhat near future it will be the 5.7. 6.4 will remain in SRT and Ram trucks.

I hadn't heard that. Good info, thanks!

I was thinking about waiting for the next gen HD, but just didnt want to wait that long. Glad I got my truck.

Will be interesting to see what they do for it though to up the game. And what changes they make visually from the new 1500.

The only thing that would get me into the dealership for a trade would be a new transmission geared/designed for the power delivery of the 6.4. Outside of that I'm perfectly happy with my 2015.

Mine is still a little herky-jerky when it's cold, but fine once it's warmed up. I flog that sumbich like a rented mule when towing and it doesn't skip a beat. It's just odd to run at such high RPMs with that many cubes. It would be great if the torque curve came in sooner (and more linear), but that's just not where this engine's sweet spot is.

Jesus H. Christ... I can't get that image out of my head now. JD Green on a Ram? Acquired taste is an understatement. We're a New Holland operation and even the thought of that colour makes me puke in my mouth a little...

A beefy 8 speed would be awesome. A real low 1st and 2nd and then to still have 7 and 8 on the highway would be awesome

Would trade in mine if they put a 8 speed in the 2500.

Just messing around on Ram's website and noticed for 2018 you can no longer option the Offroad Package without buying either the Sport Appearance or Snow Chief Group. When I ordered mine you could option it without these. Pricing looks the same though.

Also noticed you can no longer get Ram Box on Limited. Either 1/2 ton or HD. 5'7" or 6'4". Wonder why?

Yep, it'd be trading time at that point for me. My wife's Durango has the 5.7 with the 8 speed and it's pretty awesome. That tranny really keeps you in the power band.
