Looking around at new shocks for rear of my 13 1500 qc, I tow just under 4,000 pounds in summer. I want to get rid of minor bounce towing and shocks now have almost 50k miles on stock ones. I used bilstien 4600 on my 05 Durango which worked great and stopped bounce, is there other good options. I called 4 wheel parts and the 5100s for 2wd are like 8 week wait special order item.

8 weeks and special order? Sounds like those guys at 4 wheel parts are special.

Give Nick at gotexhaust a shout in our vendor section. He will hook it up! My parts only take a couple days shipping when I order from him.

Are those the best options, I seen kyb reviews and looked good too. I just want a great ride like stock with better tow control. I probably should go with Bilstein, love the 4600s on the Durango. What advantage is there going with 5100s, guy at 4wd parts said, lol "5100s are 51mm" like that means anything to me.

About 2inches in diameter...LOL. They probably have a bigger piston inside of the shock body and probably rated for a heavier load....

5100 are "stainless " where the 4600 are powdercoat yellow with blue. both are great. Most pick the 5100s. I still think they are 46mm pistons in the 5100s.

I also think its monotube vs twintube in 4600s.

The 5100 and 4600 are almost identical in build with the exception of the body (Zinc vs paint) and in some applications the valving. I've run 4600's on stock 2WD trucks and the ride is identical to the 5100s on my 4WD. On the 2WD I would go for whichever can be had cheaper and replace all 4 at the same time.
