Opinions are like... well you know the rest. Maybe people want the truck they paid thousands for to work as it is supposed to. If you don’t and want to have just short of 100 miles DTE warning light then you can keep yours that way but it is pretty excessive.

I don't think some of you guys are grasping the fact that the gas light is coming on around the 22 gallon mark (80-85l) mark for us Canadians. If you drive it until DTE says 0 you'll get around 26-27 gallons in it (or `~95ishl) for us Canadians. This STILL leaves 5 gallons or 25 litres left in the tank AFTER the needle is pegged on E and your distance to empty just says fuel low which is pretty much unusable unless you want to drive doing calculations in your head knowing what the mileage was at when it went to fuel low, calculating your MPG and dividing that up by how much gas is usually in the tank when the low fuel warning comes on. SO in the end you paid for a bigger tank for more range, but you aren't getting more range really and as a side effect your remote start Stopped working due to low fuel when you had AT LEAST 1/4 tank of gas left.

How would the 26 gallon guys like it if your low fuel light came on at 16 gallons? Yeah didn't think so.

By some people logic of the reserve the needle might as well get pegged on E and the low fuel light might as well come on when you're at 3/4 of a tank, at least that gives you hundreds of miles to find a gas station....

Hi everyone,

I was able to confirm that the brand is aware of this concern and is working to provide a resolution to customers as soon as possible. The tentative ETA for the fix to be released is during the 1st quarter of 2018 however this is subject to change. I will post any updates I receive on this thread, we appreciate your patience during this process.

Thanks for the update, glad to hear they're still working on it. :happy107:

....

I have a 26 gal tank and have never run ran it low enough for the low fuel light to come on. Once the gage shows just below a 1/4 I know it will take 19 to 20 gallons, which of course tells me how many more miles I could go with the remainder if I ever needed to.

I also put on around 2000 miles a month so I don’t want to fill up at 90 miles to empty it is annoying to me. Let me fill up when I need to.

Out of curiosity I ran mine until the warning light came on and then until it no longer listed a fuel range (just said low fuel on EVIC) and was only able to fill the tank with 27.6 gallons. Next time I'll fill up when the light comes on so that I can gauge how many gallons I have remaining since the gauge/computer is full of ****. I agree that this is something that needs to be fixed.

Yeah that pretty much proves my point, I'm sure they're just using the 26 have gallon tank calibration on the 32 gallon tank. I filled up today with the needle past E and it took 92 litres, it's a 121 lite tank.

There is a case for the 32 gallon tank not being calibrated correctly. I recently had my truck serviced and they gave me another RAM, this one had 26 gallon tank. When it was on E it was really almost empty.

Hi viper775,

Reposting what I said on page 2:

Feel like I'm beating a dead horse, but I am most dissatisfied with fuel and range reporting with my 32 gallon tank.

I specifically purchased a 32 gallon tank on my new truck to extend the range, not increase the size of the "reserve tank". My folks live just far enough away where it is just outside the range of my old RAM truck with the 26 gallon tank, so I bought the 32 gallon so I could get there without having to stop for gas (bathroom is another question). I'm not about to drive out in the middle of nowhere with my truck reporting 0 mile range, and it irritates me that my new truck effectively has same range as the old truck.

By comparison, I regularly run my truck down to 0 miles left, then drive a little more. I typically put 27 gallons in when I fill up. Old truck, I'd drive to single digit range left, and it required 25.X gallons to fill.

I want my truck to report to me the true range and remaining fuel, and to let me decide the fuel margin I want to maintain. I want the extra miles from the larger tank, not a bigger "reserve tank". This makes me grumpy.

I'm sure Ram will take your being "grumpy" into consideration when scheduling the fix for this problem. :naughty::naughty:

To be fair this time last year we were told the fix was coming Q1 or Q2 2017 (I honestly forget). Now it's Q1 2018, I'm just glad to hear they're still working on it since I figured they just gave up on it.

I completely get everyone's frustration, it's no mystery at all. When i was considering a half ton, the 32 gallon tank was a required option for me. with the driving i do, i was completely willing to pay a premium to allow me to drive an extended range without having to fuel up as often. had i discovered upon usage of the vehicle that the premium i paid only gave me an extra reserve, i would have been royally pissed off. the point of the tank is to extend the range, not the reserve. basically the cost of the 32 gallon tank is being flushed down the drain because since it's a reserve amount, it's fuel that the driver is never, ever going to use.

Its like getting a 6 pack of your favorite refreshment, and you're only able to drink 4 of them no matter how long they sit in your fridge.

Not really... its like emptying a 6 pack into a black pitcher and not knowing when you will run out... you can drink them all... you just dont know when the last sip comes..

Honestly my other cars have warnung lights come on when its 30 to 40 miles left... 1-2 gallons...

With my 10mpg truck.. 5 gallons is just 50miles till empty...
