I am saving for a gear swap, the ridiculously tall 3.55 gears are not cutting it. I read on several sites that the housing must be ground to fit 4.56 gears in the 2006 Ram 1500 front and rear housings. Can anybody confirm or dispel this information? Those that have done the swap with a 4.7L engine, what kind of gains did you see for mileage and off road performance? Man do I miss my Power Wagon.

I have read that most housings do need to be ground. But a handful have mentioned that theirs needed no grinding. Not sure if it is a hit and miss kinda thing or if certain year housings are different than others.

On 06+ 9.25 rear end you will need to grind the housing.
