Does anyone know or think they will make a V10 powered Ram in the 4th generation truck? Has anyone out there done a v10 conversion? I would love to see this truck return.

With the way motor companies have been with being eco friendly, demanding better gas millage and such I dont see them coming out with one. With the new 8 speed tranny, ford eco boost and things like that taking over, I just dont feel a V10 would fit in the market.
I would love to see one though I heard a lot of good things about them. Never got a chance to drive one yet I hope I do someday

I say screw the market and everything must get over 30mpg.... there needs to be an SRT-10 model out there. There is no replacement for displacement.

I personally am not a fan of V10 engines. I'd take a 6.4 V8 over the 10 any day.

I'm with Chewy. I just don't think the V10 was a good fit for a truck. Sure, they look cool and it's nice to be able to say you have the "Viper motor" in your truck but then what? You can't pull ANYTHING, it is fast in a straigt line but, considering the truck platform, it won't be any good anywhere else.

I would much rather have the 6.4.

CAFE standards getting tighter and tighter, I doubt it. Especially with the modern 5.7L being as powerful as it is, I don't see many folks opting for the V10.

Agree with Chewy; there should be an SRT-8 option with the 6.4.
The second round of SRT-10s were designed to have some towing capacity; if the tranny they stuck under an SRT-8 could take the torque it should have some tow capacity for a RAM as well, keeping it functional. Hell, shot peen and cryo treat a 6spd!

I'd be happy with an SRT-8 in 4x4.

As far as the V-10, the towing capacity makes it unattractive to me.

My neighbor has a Viper GTS and #1 he's an arrogant ***** and #2 I think it sounds like a diesel and not like a sports car. Actually, I prefer the sound of a diesel over the sound of his car.

As in the brand new viper? Or an older model?

Also my dad used to have a 2nd gen with the original v10 in it. He had full headers and all and said it sounded like ass. Although it could tow pretty much anything he threw at it, it just wasn't practical, also only got like 8 mpg on a good day.

I have 400 HP, how much more do I need? I actually could get by with less, lol. I really like and appreciate Dodge's current engine packages, no need for anything else. Or should I call it Ram, I guess I have to stop saying Dodge. But I still can call them Hemi's and ******'s, good stuff.

Well 400 at the crank.. A lot is lost in drivetrain. So it's more like 300 and some change at the wheels, stock. But still impressive.

Yeah, but the answer is not to get a 500hp engine to get 400 at the wheels, and that is what the thread is about. I think all it would take is one car manufacturer to sacrifice a little comfort and do away with stupid freeway gearing and put a neck snapping transmission and gearing for every guy to go out there and buy it and change the game. Then go back to solid front axles, toss all this damn computer chit except for what it takes to have fuel injection, and damn we will have real trucks again. Not that I feel too strongly about it.

Would you carry a load of manure in the back to so you could keep your tires seated into the street? Then you could smell like ass too :)

Aright well I guess he said it only sounded like ass at idle, he described it as like it had one to many cylinders. He was just used to v8's at idle I guess.
