I've been waiting over 1 months for parts for the 6.4L solenoid pack recall. I'm in Atlanta.

Did you have to wait for the parts? Or, am I getting the run a round.

I've waited long periods for past recalls so I can at least verify that it happens. There was some bracket on the front suspension a couple years ago that took a couple months before my dealer had the part. Of course, any dealer can be a total knucklehead so you might call around to another just to see if you get the same story.

Never heard of it either, do you have any details on the recall? Thanks.

Yeah that's what I'm saying. My tranny acts weird every once in awhile but I just figured that was normal with all of them since the 727. Lol

I just looked it up on a program I use for work. I wish I could copy and paste, but Mitchell (program I use) will not let me. If I was able to do that, I could get you guys all the information you need to know on everything on your truck, down the the exact bolt size and thread on anything on your truck.

It's technically not a "recall," it is considered an "oem campaign," which basically means it is not a safety concern. This campaign applies to 1500s, 2500s, and 3500s equipped with the 65/66 RFE transmission (sales codes DG1 or DFP). Vehicles built from October 17, 2015 to November 24, 2016 (MDH 091705 through 112422).

The transmission solenoid coil terminals were built out of specification, resulting in excessive interference between the solenoid and its mating surface. This will cause and intermittent electrical connection. It can cause the truck to throw a p0750 and be limited to one gear and a max speed of 35-40mph.

The reason why the dealers do not stock the solenoid pack and have to order the parts is because the 27,000 vehicles affected is not considered a large amount apparently.

I usually get the recalls in the mail, just like my previous Dodge. I have not received anything and when I check on the Ram Owners site. According to my VIN, it says no recalls apply to my vehicle at this moment, even though my truck was built in October 2016, which applies to this campaign. I'm not sure, but from what I understand, they only mail you a "recall" if it is considered a safety concern, but I could be wrong.

I just got back from the dealer. I was surprised how little time it took - less than 1 hour.

The paper works says they put in 6 pints (my guess since it isn't noted) of transmission fluid. I think the total capacity is 7 quarts. So that extends when I will change the transmission fluid.

This repair can sound difficult an time consuming, but in reality...all you do is disconnect a few connectors, drop the pan, remove tranny filter, and remove the trans valve body (I believe by 6 bolts or so). The solenoid pack is an entire unit that is part of the valve body. Remove that and put the new pack in and reinstall.

Wondering about this. I’m getting P0740 code on my 2014 6.4. Just bought truck so kinda worried as it’s out of warranty now with 120k miles.

This should not apply to a 2014. The trucks affected are built from October 17, 2015 to November 24, 2016 (MDH 091705 through 112422).

How do you finger out your build date?

Should be a silver or white sticker on your driver door or door sill with the info.

Should have at top the "DATE OF MFR" in XX/XX month/year format.

At bottom of sticker will be a "MDH: XXXXXX" format that stands for MONTH, DAY & HOUR. Given example of "MDH 091705" means it was built on the 9th month, 17th day and 5th hour of the day.

Clutch packs and planetaries have never been the problem with stock powertrain RFE transmissions. It is the solenoid and the valve body that are poorly designed. They leak, wear quickly, etc.
