I am wondering what kind of transmission I have in my truck it's a automatic in a 1983 dodge w250 4x4

What motor do you have in it. Try searching 1983 Dodge W250 on Wikipedia first gen. Good info there

That's what I thought but I also thought it is a 904 but couldn't tell because my transmission is going out and I need to find one

pretty sure they really only use the 727 especially in the 4x4's that are that old. have you priced out having the transmission rebuilt? i have heard the 727's are pretty cheap to have rebuilt since they are pretty simple
