My a/c went out and want to get it fix. I want to figure out what might be the problem, before heading out to shop to get it checked out. I have 01 1500, since i got the truck the a/c worked fine. Now it just blows out hot air. Only time it will blow cold air is in the moring on its first start of the day, but after wormed up it will slowly begins to start blow hot air. Any ideas or pointers on what i should check. Please and thanks in advance.

May just need to be recharged. Hopefully it's not the a/c compressor

Make sure the compressor is engaging. If it is, put a set of gauges on it and see what you have to work with.
Being a 94, it might have the original compressor and it might be losing its will to live.

mine did the same thing, and the air gap in the compressor was off, they adjusted it and it works like a champ.

Get a can of refrigerant with dye and look around for green crap blowing out.

its less than $15 and shows if there is an external leak.

The easiest fix I can think of is that your temp selector is in the warm position. Happens to me every year.
