Yeah those have been on my want list for awhile. Much bigger ports. What is the cc on the combustion chamber? I know the 5.7 are 85 cc, the 6.1 heads have a smaller chamber, raising up the compression ratio a good bit. When I asked I was told the 6.1 have a 74cc chamber. My Manley kit had a 9.6:1 ratio, putting the 6.1 heads on would have bumped it to around 10.8:1.

So what intake are you running? I ended up ordering Cometic gaskets for mine, they were about the only ones I could find to work with the overbore I had

I've got a 6.1 intake on the way. Found that for $300 shipped. I just hope the 87mm bbk throttle body I bought months ago will work on this intake. Ill be using cosmetic gaskets and arp head studs.

Indeed it is. I've got an 03 4.7 harness and pcm, 04 5.7 harness and com, and an 05 harness and pcm.

05 harness would have the best tuning abilities. That’s what I picked for mine. I didn’t even try dealing with the 03 Hemi computer, I dumped that pretty quickly when I figured I would start building mine up. At least you don’t have to deal with moving all the 03 tcm wires over haha

I didn’t need a harness. I had a Hemi to begin with. Only thing I did was swap computers. I had to remove the 03 specific trans control module and transfer all the wires to the c4 connector on the 05 pcm.

So are you still thinking about a turbo set up? Just a heads up on the scat kit. When I was comparing all the different kits, I was leaning towards the scat kit. I called the company directly to get some info. They said the I beam rods that are in the cheaper kits they offered were only good for about 6-8 lbs of boost. They said to run any decent amounts of boost you needed to upgrade to their H beam rods. That also required a different balancing for the crank and cost another $200. The h beam rods are heavier. I don’t know how crazy you are going to go with power but you might want to check up on that

Progress report. The stroker kit is heading back to the owner due to misleading description of the kit. Just ordered pushrods, bbk fuel rail, valve covers, arp headstuds, the lamp wiring harness, and a single piston to replace the one damaged from the dropped valve seat. Once I get the money back from the stroker kit ill put that towards gaskets, water and oil pumps, manley intake valves due to pitting, and mad blasters. Hopefully after all this the the truck will at least be running minus a few parts20171220_204526.jpg 20171220_204548.jpg

I will in a few months. I need my truck back on its feet and all these parts to get out of my garage. Turbo is still a go and so is the stroker I just need time and money to make it all happen. Hopefully around tax season ill be good to go

Yeah trust me it gets expensive quick. You don’t realize how many parts end up needing replaced or improved. With my stroker (on top of the entire rotating assembly) I replaced the oil pump, timing set, lifters, valve train, full ARP bolts, Cometic gaskets, custom ground cam, fuel system, injectors, and many other odds and ends.

Glad to see this post! I have a 2005 4.7 and want to soon replace it with the hemi. I picked up a 2005 hemi engine computer and harness. What else do I need and will the 05 harness from the hemi just plug right into my 05 4.7 truck?

If you tell me all the numbers of the electrical parts you have ill let you know what you need. 2x4 or 4x4? Quad or single cab? Is you throttle body fly by wire or cable on the 4.7? If its cable then you'll need the complete apps system. This includes the accelerator pedal the box that's under the battery. Might need the same mounts that I go it just depends. I have the mounts but I'm not far enough into building the engine to verify if they are the correct ones. However according to the parts manual they should be correct. Ill list those part numbers within the week. Good luck on the build!
