Hi everyone, I have a 2016 2500 Cummins with an open rear diff. The dealership I purchased from said they cannot install the anti spin rear axle and didn't know where to send me. Has anyone had this installed/installed this themselves after purchasing their truck?

If that's the case it's probably better getting onboard air and a rear locker. If you're going to go big get the best bang for your buck. That's better then the LSD anyway.

Any competent transmission shop or diesel shop should be more than capable to doing it. Would also be a good chance to change to 3.73 or 4.10 gears if you're going to have the pumpkin torn apart.

Agreed, in my experience, an air locker would be far more beneficial if you have to spring for it....

While the arb is no doubt better for absolute traction I'm sure if you shopped around you could find a stock lsd for quite a bit cheaper and not have to worry about finding an air compressor and air tank and wiring and plumbing the whole thing.

Lsd will never give you a true 50/50 power split, and the factory ls will wear out over time

About the only time you are really going to need that true 50/50 split is it one tire is in the air. With it using the brakes to force the torque to transfer you almost have a locker anyway. Either way the factory lsd has nothing to wear out, the gears will wear out before the lsd does.

Lsd is not a locker i don't know who fed you that bs but a locker is way better than a lsd

OP it depends on what you want... a locker is not "wayyy" better than a limited slip (or any traction aiding device).

If you want something to help get you "unstuck" once you have already become "stuck", a locker will be superior. Or if you plan on really driving through some rough terrain consistently at very low speeds, potentially better.

If you want something to help prevent you from getting stuck, and assist with take offs in low traction areas, the LSD is superior.

Everyone is always quick to spout off about lockers...but truth is they suck in most applications. Assuming your truck is 4wd, the LSD is most likely the way to go. Having both rear tires helping you prevent becoming stuck in 2wd will be a HUGE step up from an open diff. Especially in such a tank of a truck. And the moment you start to get stuck, you flip on 4hi, should be fine.

If you are really doing some hardcore offroad driving where you think you need 3 tires turning at all times, a locker will be better. But the truck wont turn as well, it will handle differently, and if you are on wet or icy surfaces, you better be careful and SLOW.

the bottom line is this:

a LSD is made to function 100% of the time, help with every driving condition, and prevent you from getting stuck.

A locker is made to be engaged, used briefly to overcome your obstacle, and disengaged. You are still driving around open diff 99% of the time.
