Finally got the amp back and was so happy I put it in right away
Everything thing when straight away. Unfortunately once again nothing on the middle channel pushing the mid range and tweeters when set to 6 channel input
but the mid base and the rears work flawless
What a buummer, but think I know what is going on, the Focal 165F 3 way crossover is not designed to be bi-amped , shooting self in forehead ........... lol
Tomorrow I am going to hook up a mid base to the cross over to confirm my suspicion, if the case not sure what I will do, will come back to this
Set the gains, the factory head unit goes up to 38 and clips at 35, so 34 is max volume with out clipping. Not sure if this is the case for just mine or all 8.4 that have this model number ?
But a good barometer if you don't have anything to test it with
Set gains on the amp and they went to the halfway mark until they clipped. So you can imagine this system is insanely loud
Setting the system to 2 channel input just so I could hear it, all I can say is wow, just jaw doping and my main concern was the sub in the factory box,
This thing hits so hard it hurt's, super impressed with this 8" and is everything and way more than the expectations I had.
the front stage even know they are only 6.5" drivers hit exceptionally hard as well, the sound deadening has seemed to have paid off big
The mids and highs are breathtaking, and surprisingly not as harsh as I thought they would be, but the clarity even on 320KBS data is super sharp and detailed
Can't wait to try a WAV file on this, This is all just flat, no tweaking out of the box seeings with all crossovers set to 80
So I am really happy with the choices, just have to get this worked out up front.
Some input would be appreciated, the caveat is if I test and it works with the mid base in the cross over then there are choices to be made
Better off running the 3 way set on a single channel and leave one channel un-used or do I run the entire front stage active and buy a cheap brick amp to push the rear's
However the latter means I could not control the rears with my DSP , just the six front channels and the two sub chanels would be able to be controlled by the DSP
Any thoughts ?
here are a few pics of the finished sub, sound deadened the interior and exterior for some extra strength and really deadened it up nicely
