I want sure at first either but wanted to protect the hood from chips and liked the textured finish. Liked it more once installed

There is no difference in the 17 and 18 hoods right? Amazon shows this available only for the 2018 but I'm about to pull the trigger for $72 for a 2017.

I'm looking at these pictures and considering buying one but I can't figure out how they mount.

Do they attach directly to the top of the painted hood surface with double sided tape?

Yes they just stick to the hood. Can easily be taken off with no damage to paint
