Just traded my lifted ramcharger for a bone stock 88 ram 5.2.
Only thing it has is has is 3 in body lift. I think I'm gonna tuck
larger tires on it but keep center of gravity low.

Any suggestions on upgrades for gear and Axel, suspension, etc.
I'm going for a "tonka" mud truck but able to flex some.

what size tires do you want to run? the stock gears and axles should be ok to run 35" or smaller tires but it might be a bit slower off the line.

I say if you have dana 44s you might want to stick with 35's. but to fit the 35s if you are planning on doing any off roading I say at least put a 2 inch body lift. because flex has been the death of many fenders. lol

If you want to make it a mud truck, swap 1 ton axles under it. 1/2 ton axles just won't play nice with thick nasty mud.

When you do that you have a wide range of options
If the funds allow, a nice coil over setup for the front with radius arms would be pretty sick!

although 1 ton axles are the best, the factory one should hold up well up to a 35 inch tire. any bigger however and you will definitely want to upgrade your axles to those off of a heavier truck. I have 3/4 tone axles in my 85 and it seems to hold up well to my 37s
