Bed compatibility

While searching for tonneau covers, I've discovered a plethora of covers for the third generations for sale. Although the bed lengths are similar, does anyone know if the third gen covers will fit on our second gens?

from what I can see however, 3rd gen beds are too narrow at the tailgate so idk
