bed swap

I was wondering if a bed from a 2nd gen would fit on a 1st gen. I can get a bed off a 96 cheaper and in far better shape then i can for a 1st gen the truck is just my work beater I dont care if it dont match just looking for a solid bed thats not rotted out. Thank you

I may be wrong, but I don't think so.
I've got a 76 and a 98 but the bed lengths are different, so I can't measure it for you.

Good question I have wondered myself including toppers, what years fit the first gen ???
I would measure where your box mounts are located then measure the new box to find out how off the two are. If it's a real asset to have the newer style box then I would also go a head and weld up new mounts on the new box or make a conversion connection that you could bolt together.
