They are tinted turn signal leds and brighter puddle lights for tow mirrors. They should look way better now on black chrome free tow mirrors compared to the white housing.
I believe the stock turn signal housing has two leds and this one has six. And these new puddle lights has 6 leds instead of one.

When I did mine I got my wheel before I got the tool. Flat blade screwdriver sucks. Lol

Disconnect the battery. Wait at least 2 minutes for the capacitors to discharge, preferably longer (I waited 1/2 hour in an overabundane of caution). The physical removal isn't hard if you have the $10 tool, it's a royal pain if you don't. There are a number of videos on Youtube of the actual process.
