Hello, fng here

I joined up to hopefully find out which headlights will be best for my 2002 3500. The stock lights are so bad I cannot drive at night.

I checked out the 200 bucks a set ANZA's but in their reviews wayyyy too many complained of condensation in their brand new spendy headlights when still fairly new and there were also fitment issues where some didn't fit/line up properly. They sure do look cool though.

So it looks like 200 bucks buys junk when it comes to headlights nowadays, does anyone have a recommendation for a light that is high quality? I can spend around 500 bucks if that's what it takes for a decent light that works and won't get fogged up. I need to be able to see :)

Thanks in advance for any help in my decision:hmm:

For $500... I would get a set of tyc replica headlights and then retrofit those some quality projectors like Morimoto from theretrofitsource, if you do the work you should be under or around that $500 mark.

Thanks purplelert,

Is this something that will plug into my existing wiring?

I've got some learning to do on this subject I can tell already

My vote is stock headlights with morimoto hid projectors. Cost should be around $375-$400 all said and done if you do the work. I buy eBay stock replacements then open them up, add the projectors and wiring, close them up and install. It takes about 5 hours of work, more if you just take it easy. But it’s not hard. You will need a special adapter harness to work with the dodge computer system but that’s included in the above price.

I think these would look extra sick without the lines and bulges on the lenses.

And perhaps a clear side reflector and different and/or painted projector shroud.

Also, what about muh leds? Muh halos? Muh angel eyes and demon eyes?

That’s exactly why I’m doing the 06 front end swap, I hate the lines and bulges. You can definelty get crazy with halos and stuff but I like my stuff to be clean and simple.

I wish my headlights looked like yours. If they did I would consider retrofitting them but I hate the look of mine, their looks suck but not near as much as their performance does.

So, I'm gonna replace my ugly nonfunctionable lights for sure.

Is there a quality aftermarket light that ALREADY has the necessary projectors and whatever else I may need?

Thanks guys for getting me on the right track,:waytogo: I've been doing lotsa research since I was pointed in the right direction cause I started out knowing nothing at all about these newfangled modern headlights and now I know about 2% of what there is to be known :)

Oh ok I didn’t realize it was a second gen truck. You can still do a retrofit in them, same principle. I don’t know if any aftermarket housings to recommend though. Hopefully someone else will. 864423869623a37a957edc1de2f59df4.jpg

Hey, Chris. Know how to solve the issue of the 3rd gen stock housing bulges and lines?

-Buy aftermarket heads

-Remove flat, lineless lenses

-Put ugly stock lenses on

-Return aftermarket heads

-Attach flat, lineless lenses to stock heads with whatever retrofit parts and paint you want.

-Profit.

I have a ugly set of halo projectors. They have the smooth lens. Maybe when I’m board I will try to remove the lens and see if it will fit on the stock lights

If it works, post a thread with pics on the result.

Been doing HOURS of research since I started off knowing zero. Learned quite a bit about lights and what I need.

I found out theretrofitsource offers built projector lights with options available. I didn't check them out at first cause I thought they only supplied the parts for DIY retrofits. VERY happy to see they do builds :)

I'm gonna buy some prebuilds from them rather than struggle with doing it my self. At least I know everything will work together and is put together correctly.

I'm looking at getting Tyc lights w/ Morimoto HID projectors.

Maybe even them morimoto switchback halos are in order.

Now I'm getting hooked on cool looking lights. Once I figure out what the heck Demon Eyes are I might get some of them too. Do they light up as parking lights or when lights are on?

Figuring on ordering this kit tomorrow from RETROSHOP...

2nd Gen Dodge Ram HID Projector Retrofitted Headlamps

Gonna go w/the larger optional projector/larger shroud with Morimoto switchback white/amber halo.

For some reason I thought they used Tyc lights but found out they are Spyders used by retroshop.

Any thoughts on what I'm planning to get?

I'm pretty sure I made the right decision

You will love them! I “think” that’s Jeremy’s shop, he does excellent work and is highly recommended around here.

They're a better option for those that are more worried about budget and may be afraid to tear their new headlights apart. Otherwise projectors>sport 100%
