Has anyone tried changing bulbs in instrument cluster on a 2012 or similar? If so, what is the size?

Turns out this LED conversion is going to be more difficult than I expected. I was under the impression it was literally just a matter of changing the bulbs. Apparently that's not the case? I keep seeing talk of resistors and all of this other non sense...I'm a complete electrical novice. Is there something I'm missing here?

Did you ever find out which bulb are needed for your instrument cluster? My 2010 1500 just started acting up. My empty side of the fuel gauge will not light up sometimes and occasionally both the fuel gauge and temp gauge will go completely out...

Thanks

Yeah, I thought I read something about resistors with the brake lights and concern about the resistors getting too hot when keeping your foot on the brake during long lights.
Can anyone shed some light *ahem* on the resistor thing? Are the smaller lights (interior, license plate) okay with plug and play but the larger brake/turn/headlight need some kind of resistor setup?

LED's or HID's

GREAT POST, VERY INFORMATIVE THANK YOU! I am just curious about what yall prefer..... i'm looking to upgrade all of my lights up front. I have the quads on a 14' ram 1500 lonestar. So according to the post I'm going to have to buy 3 pairs, which is going to get a lil pricey. I was looking on EBAY and Amazon, and found some LED bulb replacements. I've read several good things about them, however i trust this forum to give me better reviews. Are the LED replacements going to be brighter than the HID conversion kits? What should I do guys?

I have a 17 Ram 2500 so I have a few questions. I tried reading some of the post but there are like 50+. What are good easy LED bulb replacing that is a plug and play for my vehicle? The stock lights are horrible. Also I am hoping there is a simple way to remove the bulb once I get the headlight out? I have a 2" leveling kit on my 4x4, do I need to adjust the headlights? Are there adjustments to them so they don't blind incoming cars? Thanks for your help

Just a quick note: 9005 (normally high beams) will work in the fog lights for my 2010 Ram. The base of the 9005 & 9145 are the same. !

Just installed a set of 9006 6K in my heads on my 14. All you have to do is shave a few millimetres off one of the tabs. Very easy to do.

2009 Quad Headlight DRL led bulb...3157?

Anyone? I have OPT7 led in my high and low and tired of driving around with dull white normal DRL bulbs :)

What lights are people using for the front 2 map lights? My trucks not liking the regular led from superbrightleds up front. They don't dim well in my truck when you lock it either. They work fine in the license plate lights though.

This may have been mentioned already, but my 2017 has 9006 for fogs, not 9145. I don't have the projectors, just the quads.

9006 Fog Lights

What I found was that if you have the vertical style fog lights the bulb is a 9006 but if you have the horizontal style it is a 9145. Please correct me if this is wrong but that's what I found on my truck and a little looking around online.
