I watched it a couple of times and it is really hard to see but there is one place at the end where it looks like there is pinion play. A certain amount of backlash is expected but no side play is allowed on the pinion. If there is pinion play then there is usually some leakage associated with it. I don't see any signs of leakage. So don't know. That is not the vibration, it takes rotating wieght to have a vibration like a wheel or drive shaft out of whack.

It does leak. Not sure why, maybe the seal just gave up, because there is no play in any direction except rotational.

Then that should be addressed, unbolt the driveshaft and shake the flange to see if the pinion has play. If it does then that's a very good sign that the piion bearings are bad or the pinion nut has backed off.

I did drop the shaft and there was zero play in rhe pinion. Im getting new tires today so ill see how that helps.

Well I got my new tires, and still feel like it from the rear passenger side. My friend says he feels like it's the front driver side. So, I'm lost.

Damn! I was really hoping to get an answer from this thread....

I have this vibration problem from 70 to 80 mph ... only.

I've balanced , rotated, replaced hubs, replaced all 4 rotors, 180 degree turned the drive shaft....

Guess now I'll buy a new drive shaft.... can anyone who has resolved this problem please respond.

Please don't tell me to balance my tires... it doesn't work.

Thanks

I recently bought a 2014 civic, drove it off the lot with 4 miles. Called service before it had 10 miles on it, was shaking at about 60. Tires were in balance but there were flat spots on the tire from sitting in the warehouse since 2013.

Moral of the story, just because a tire is in balance doesn't mean it will not shake.

I'm voting CV joints in your case though.

You may be right.... I drove about 300 miles yesterday. When the trip began, the shaking was between 71 & 79. By the end of the trip, the shaking stopped at 76 MPH.
So.... since worn parts don't tend to improve, I am thinking tires again. Maybe they do have flat spots that smooth out with enough heat from driving??

I really don't want to replace almost new tires and still have the shaking..

I wouldn't vote tires in your case, I was just providing a real life experience that was unusual.

If your truck sat on concrete for an extended period (6 months or so) or if the tires came from a truck that was hit in the side and scooted against the tread for a few feet... perhaps. I'm still thinking cv joints in your particular case.
