What’s the room like in a 1500 crew can for 1 and 2 car seats. Is there enough room. Is it safe? Is the ride still comfortable? Or should I go with an SUV? Thanks !

Yep! You could put 3 car seats in the back of a crew cab and be just fine.

Now, make sure it's a crew cab. The quad cab will get a little tight. The rear doors are a little smaller, making it harder to get into with a kiddo. That was our impression, anyway.

I don't know what difference there is in the cabs from the 1500 to the 2500 but in My 2500 I have a forward facing car seat on the passenger side and a rear facing seat behind the drivers seat. The rear facing seat leaves plenty of room for me to adjust the seat for leg room and I'm 6'0". My 3 year old can kick the back of the passenger seat but it is pushed all the way back and partly reclined. There seems to be the same if not more room than my wife's GMC Acadia.

One of the biggest reasons I bought my truck... the car seats (2) fit perfectly with my wife and I comfortable in the front. But yes, make sure you get the crew not the quad.

N0 difference at all. They all share same cab. I fit 4 tall people in mine. No issues whatsoever. Plenty of room. I’m 6’4. If my wife drives. She’s SHORT and I sit behind her it’s like a dang limo for me

I have two in my crew cab that fit fine. Well, one rear facing for my 3 month old behind the driver seat and a booster for my 5 year old on the passenger side.

I have 3 seats in the back of my quad cab so a crew cab would be no brainer.

The difference between the two is that the Crew Cab is about 7-9” longer than the quad cab. Look at the back doors that explains everything.

This. Crew cab is what you need. Crew cab will give you adequate room for car seats

You can fit 3 full size reverse seats back there and move the front seats all they way back if you are 7'2". Tons and tons of room. Did I mention tons! I have a ludicrous car seat reverse facing and with that I can still move the seat all the way back.

Thankfully with 4 kids, I'm down to just a booster seat. Like said, even a quad cab is adequate for most front or rear facing child seat. Where a quad cab falls short is if you want to put average sized adults back there with the car seat(s). It's totally doable, but the front occupants have to roll their seats up to the point it can be uncomfortable.

Crew cabs are super nice and roomy. The negative is you loose 6" of truck bed. That doesn't seem to be a problem for most given 90% of the pickups you see on the road have puny little beds that never see any action anyway. :party36:

Like I saw others say there is plenty of room in a crew cab... do not get a quad cab unless you're on the shorter side. I'm 6'2" and have the seat almost all the way back, but in a fairly upright position. My almost six year old sits in a front facing seat behind me and while he can touch my seat he can't quite kick it so hard that I feel it. My wife and three year old sit on the other side, my wife is only 5'1" and there is inches between her seat back and my younger ones feet. A quad cab was completely out of the question for us. There is ample space between their seats also and could even fit a "normal" sized adult in pinch if needed.

Crew cab is the way to go! I did a lot of research as well on this before buying last fall. The Ram's don't have the biggest crew cab on the market but they have plenty of room for car seats and adults. The only con is the bed is a little on the shorter side but I've been able to make everything fit that I've hauled so far. You won't regret it!

I have a 7 year old and a 4 month old...They fit beautifully in the crew cab...I can adjust my seat to any position I want without worry of squishing legs behind me...My wife has plenty of room behind her as well with the car seat behind her...Crew cab is a winner for families.

Loads of room for two. They can fully extend legs. Careful though, they are messy as hell!

I have a Durango with the captain seats second row, and my truck still has more room for the kiddos.

had 3 car seats in the back of my crew cab for about 3 years! Plenty of room and if you check interior specs, the crew cab has more room than just about anything on the road.

There is a ton of room, however, having to loop the seat head strap through loops behind the headrest to the center is a PIA.
BTW we use car seats that use the anchor and headrest secure points.

When using a rear facing newborn seat, space can get tight if you like the seats further back.
We would mount it in the center back seat.

I have the same Graco seats I believe.
RAM manual says to route the head strap through the loop behind the headrest over to the center headrest look.
Silly I think, how are you routing them?
