My d150 has the standard 15 inch rims.

I've always liked the mid to late 90s K15/silverado tires that came on the 4wd models. The size on those are P265/75R16. So if I found some 16 inch dodge rims would those Chevy tires fit on them?

Also, the Chevy tires seem to be very "square" (when looking at them from the front or back obviously). What is the proper word for this? They seem a lot more squared off, boxy, bolder, and less rounded like some other off road tires that I see. Anyone know what this is called?

The picture shows the tires that I'm talking about.

Thanks

Yes
5 x 5.5 is bolt pattern needed. Unless you have 2500 or larger Ram.

A heavier rated tire will typically have less bulge but will ride stiffer as a consequence. A D150 really doesn't need much more than a P rated tire which will give the most bulge, but if you step up the load rating towards the E rated it'll be more rigid. I'm pretty sure that's the solution your looking for.

Thank you I appreciate the info!

I realize that the d150 isn't exactly a heavy duty truck so won't be needing an E rated tire, but I have some money to blow and really like the stance a truck has with those blocky looking tires. So why did the late 90s silverados come with those heavier duty tires? Even the 1500 models had them.... regular half tons. any idea?

I am sure they would fit fine. That is not that much bigger than stock really but you may rub a bit on tight turns in front wheel wheels if it has any left :)

I'm not sure why Dodge uses P tires on their light trucks... I think they have for a while but I have also noticed for some time that Ford/Chev use LT tires on their light trucks... I think its a bit of a Dodge thing. I know I noticed a HUGE difference in handling quality on my '07 1500 when I went from the P tires to LT.

All of them use Passenger tires on their light duty trucks go look. Chevy uses either Bridgestone Dueler or Goodyear Eagle LS. Ford uses Pirelli or some Goodyear SR-A or HP junk just like Ram. They are all P series.

The reason they do it fuel mileage and ride and they can technically handle the rated towing anyway just not as easy as a LT tire could.

Tires are tires, but Jimmie rims on a Ram; that's just wrong. Your truck your money, but wrong.

You need to read closer, I said I would buy DODGE rims. Why would you even mention Jimmie into this conversation?

Anyways

remember that a 265/75/15 is roughly the equivalent of a 31x10.50x15. and that's a lage tire for a d150... if it fits it will probably rub... a lot... could damage a fender.

Got 265/75/16 on the 76 and they don't rub, but they do make some weird noises.

are you sure those weird noises aren't rubbing?

They're not, because I've looked. There is not abnormal wear on the tires, nor on the inner fenders. :killer:
