Hey, I figured out 2 causes of the reason why you won't go with demon eyes. 1, they don't put enough power through the color changer[honestly, why not just make the whole thing a color changer?]. And 2, they run it through the projector lens, which is designed to project it forward and down, rather than running it through an opaque bulb style lens or ball that would just glow/equally disperse it.

And I've seen a really bright looking one that has a dedicated bulb and lens like I describe.

Here:

And more beautiful demon eye goodness.

{{As you notice, I tried to find all day shots so you could see how bright they are and if said brightness is adequate.}}

Imagine THIS in your headlight buckets!

Thos lights are all and fine and dandy, but the reality is that they are going to burn out, typically within a year if used regularly, ive built many lights and used many brands of em, the fault with demon eyes is they are so close to the HID bulb that the heat causes a premature failure...

That being said i have successfully made a demon eye they runs on ccfl so the driver is external and not susceptible to the heat of the bulb...

Ok well here is an Ohio Dodge truck in all its glory. Some of you won’t believe this but it’s not that bad compared to other rust buckets around here [emoji51] I have the patch panels, I’m hoping to MiG weld them. Any tips as I’m starting this? e659f8214fb79171c657c1bb72b5b100.jpg

Got the panels cut out, but decided to order new inner fender wells also so the repair job gets done right this time. So this project will have to sit for a few days 617a8735eb9c0394bbb702eeda7c9b78.jpg

Since I didn’t have any more to do on the body work, I dropped the fuel tank to figure out what I needed to raise the fuel pressure. Apparently 03 trucks have a 48psi fuel regulator and the 04+ run a 58psi regulator. Since I have the bigger injectors and the 05 pcm I’m gonna raise it up. I have to decide on changing the regulator, swapping in an 05 pump, changing it to a walbro 255 or removing the regulator and adding an external adjustable regulator up in the engine bay. Trying to find the easiest and cheapest way to do it

demon eyes are bad ass but with all the issues they can have and for the amount of time they would actually get used I just did the passive demon eye approach on my mustang. I took the projectors apart, masked of the solenoid, an then painted the shields. Its subtle and not as cool looking as demon eyes but it was cheap and effective. I like it as its a touch of custom work that is noticeable but doesnt take all the attention off the whole build.

Dont mind the dirty lens that was pre-finish work.

Yeah that’s the main thing holding me back. I don’t trust them to work long term and I hate taking the headlights back off to fix stuff. Not worth it in my opinion

Damn, dude. You really ARE the lighting EXPERT, aren't you? I'm assuming that when I wanna make custom heads for whatever truck I end up having, I should contact you, yes? Because I DO want all of my stuff fully functional, very noticeable, completely configurable, and dead reliable.

Oh, and Chris. I just thought of something kinda cool. If you welded on a fender flare that went straight across the wheel well in line with that lower body line, and kinda arched/****** out to clear the tire, how cool might that look?

Yes!!!!!!! Finally after over 2 weeks of waiting (it felt years longer) my cam finally showed up today! I haven’t been able to touch the engine in those two weeks but finally we are moving! Looking at the cam card it’s a pretty decent sized cam, I should be making some real power now! Thanks to Stu at Inertia Motorsports for setting it up. I am headed to a local welding shop to get some threaded nipples welded to the fuel rail, then to the shop to start working. Literally so excited right now! 999e41f7ffc1b5b5f6c4b241cd9cea53.jpg

Checking the cam timing. Never done this before, it’s a head scratcher

Cam specs are a lot like what I had in my '07 but I didn't run the dual roller kit like you. Are you planning on advancing the cam or leaving it straight up?

The cam is ground 4 degrees advanced. I installed it right to the specs on the cam card. I’ve literally been fighting the timing for 4 hours now and I just got it. For whatever reason we couldn’t nail it down. I needed to advance it 4 degrees. It was running at 116 centerline and I needed it at 112. So I adjusted my camshaft sprocket advanced 4 degrees and it came out 120. We messed with it about 20 times and finally set it at 4 ******** and it came out right on. No idea why it was reversed but here’s how it ended up 92da5b67e722791845c8e755d01c6b19.jpg

I'd say that sounded too ********, but you already said it was 4 ********.

Either way, can't wait to see this beast run.

On a side note, I've spent the last hour listening to prochargers.... I know they compound boost and therefore only have top end and wouldn't be really suited for a truck, but god, no lag, and they CAN make a ****load of power.....

And that sound, too..... Like the ultimate **** stiffening hybrid of turbo sounds and blower sounds. Whine AND whistle! GAWWLEEEEE!!

There are a few guys running 3rd gen with a supercharger in the 11’s. My tuner just removed his YSI-V7 for a turbo set up. Redtruck-VA has a supercharged 03 regular cab that is absolutely a beast

Engine is 90% complete and ready to drop into the truck. Since we have so much going on for the holidays looks like we are gonna make a late night push to get this into the truck tonight...hope it goes smoother then last time
And yeah I know the valve covers don’t math, having a heck of a time getting the paint right. I’ll have to strip is and repaint it later

I had all day to work on the truck but didn’t make a lot of progress. Spent a hour and a half round trip to Summit Racing to pick up the supplies for the fuel lines, bought the wrong size quick disconnect and had to turn around and go back, and somehow got out of a 10 over speeding ticket. I think having a concealed carry license gives me some cred with the police around here haha. But I finished the fuel rail and injectors, installed the manifold, one side of valve cover and coil packs. Man that hydrobooster just frees up so much room

Was it you I was talking to about the hydrobooster? That is the one thing I absolutely LOVE about the conversion, the room to do plug changes, etc is night and day with mine.

Have you thought about doing the '06+ valvecover/coil conversion? It would clean up the shorty wires

The first time I saw the hydrobooster was from Redtruck-VA, saw it on his thread and started looking it up. I still have to get the power steering hoses made and hooked up to it.
I looked into the coil pack conversion, but the +$500 for new coil packs, used valve covers and stuff was too much for now. I actually kind of like the look of the shorty wires to be honest. If I decide to boost it down the road I’ll do the swap. I’ve heard boost doesn’t like the Shorties
