Ok what are the pros and cons to cutting my stock springs. I don't wanna sacrifice ride quality.

Pro - lower ride height

Con - sacrifice ride quality

LOL! It all depends how low you want to go. Cutting off around one coil won't really do much in ride quality.

I just wanna come down enough to match the front ride height.

That would be around 1½-3 coils depending on your truck. Every truck is different. 1 coil is usually around 1" of drop.

You'd do better getting you some 2" rear drop springs. They not that expensive, and are rated for the drop.

Yea I am starting to realize that. Just don't wanna buy a set and it lowers me too much. Guess that's a gamble I am going to have to take.

I wound up cutting my rears 1 and a half coils. It brought it down roughly 2". Before I did cut though I found a set of used/take off springs for $60 just in case I didn't like the outcome of the cut springs. Much to my surprise I'm very pleased with it. I actually cut my stock springs because the ones I bought were like brand new so I figured I'd keep those intact. As far as ride quality with the cut springs I found that its really nothing noticeably different than stock height and as for as towing I dont do much of that unless I'm towing a small boat.

Old thread but I cut my 1.5 coils off the rear. Feels alright so far.

Old thread again... I did the rears with springs, but I’m thinking of finding used front springs and chopping the front down a a little. 1” to 1 1/4” would be about right for my situation.
Anybody done the fronts?!

The stock springs will be short enough to fall out over a hi spot in the road at speed after cutting 2 coils. Big risk for a pair of good lowering springs. Just a thought.
