Cycling A/C Compressor

2007 Ram 1500, 5.7 Hemi. A/C compressor cycles on and off every few seconds. Blowing very little cool air. Has gotten progressively worse for awhile now. Though I'd give "AC Pro" a try but the cylinder gauge never got out of the red indicating the system was not low on refrigerant (high red zone with compressor off, a bit lower with compressor on). Something tells me the system refrigerant is low. Can't see any obvious leaks but that doesn't mean there aren't any. I dread going to the dealer... any other suggestions?

Check the Schrader valve on the low pressure line. Might be loose or wore out
