So a while a go after having to rip off my dash cover (don't even get me started.. $300 wasted on a complete pos), I replaced my dash completely. That was a hole monster of it's own. But, when I went to finish up, the last 5 (I think it's 5..?) that are on the top of the dash at the back (front of truck) at the windshield that hold the entire thing in, won't go in. I figured it just needed to set so it would get closer in place and then they would go right in, but it's been probably over 6 months and they still won't go in. Absolutely everything I try. I was wondering has anyone come across this problem and are there any known solutions? My dash is essentially secure, it just picks at my OCD

Obviously they're not lining up. Take a flashlight and see how the holes are aligned (well, lack there of) and see which way you need to scoot the dash to make them line up.

They seem to line up, just maybe a bit too far back. I've tried pushing the dash closer but it hasn't done much and I'm worried to break the cheap plastic. That new dash cost me a pretty penny from Dodge

It shouldn't break now, as it hasn't been in the GA heat for 10+ years. lol

So the screws just spin like they have nothing to grab onto? Can you see the holes in the support structure where they're supposed to screw into?

Yeah true but idk I just worry. And yeah they just don't grab. I can see the holes the dash seems to just be slightly back from the front of the truck.

Have you tried loosening the other screws on the cover to try and get at those front screws?

The other screws on the cover that attach it to the support structure. If they're tightened in such a manner as to keep the front ones from biting that can be an issue.

If you mean the ones on the bottom of the cover that are an absolute b**ch, then no I havent. I don't think those are causing it. If so I really don't want to mess with them. Took me 2 days for 17 screws. I would rather leave it how it is.

Well thanks anyways I'll see if maybe some of the other bolts/screws are holding it back or making it un-aligned. I didn't really give that idea too much thought, as I was just too pissed after putting in that new dash. And having to rip out the old dash cover

If I remember correctly it was about $400. And I did it when I replaced my heater core, which was honestly easier to install. That kind of puts in to perspective how frustrating it was

Have you tried a longer screw to go in it. Then see if it pulls in some to use the regular screws in it.

So do the longer screws not bite or does it just not pull the dash back any?

This sounds like a misalignment issue. You will need to loosen the other bolts a bit until the dash can move around. Once you can wiggle the dash the front bolts can then be threaded into their respective holes.
Word to the wise, never tighten even one bolt all the way until all the bolts have been started and at least puled up 1/4 the way into the threading. Doing it the way you did is what is causing the problem. The dash has no wiggle room and the tight bolts are not allowing the front ones to line up correctly.
