I just purchased a 2015 Ram 2500, and am ready for an oil change. The owners manual states 15w-40 if above freezing, or 5w-40 synthetic if below. My dealer said if I use synthetic, it will damage my engine since it does not get cold enough to warrant it. Thoughts?

Your dealer is an idiot.
I use synthetic most of the time. Unless I have to do an oil change and I'm broke.
Ask the ******* if using synthetic gear oil year round hurts differentials.
Ask him why all heavy trucks come factory filled with synthetic and don't get damaged in summer.
Ask why only YOUR SPECIFIC TRUCK SHOULD NOT RUN SYNTHETIC YEAR ROUND.

That may be the funniest "no idea what I'm talking about" dealer comment yet....

Been running dino in our Cummins trucks. Next set of oil changes we are switching to Mobil1 and Cummins filters (not mopar). Going to run that a bit and see what happens.

I'm told fuel economy will edge slightly up, but who knows. Told the same thing about Hot Shot's Secret but I've never run that additive.
