2005 2500 QC Long bed.

This is my first pickup. So I'm not sure if it's lifted or not. All I know is that it's definitely higher than a 1500. So my question is this. When I was truck shopping, I've driven the newer 1500 trucks. They are quite smooth over rough pavement. My truck however seems a little "bouncy" over rough pavement. Meaning, if you've ever driven a car that has a bad shock, it kinda "hops". On a small scale, that seems like how my trucks drives. Is that just the nature of the beast being a 3rd Gen and most likely lifted? Or do I need to look into getting new shocks? Thanks.

A major differences with the 1500's vs yours is the independent front suspension and rear coil springs. Your solid front axle and leaf springs in the rear will tend to "hop" more over bumps. Due to the suspension design, a stock 2500 sits up higher than 1500 counterpart.
It's not to say your shocks may need to be replaced, they could still be the originals which make them 12 years old.

Cool. Glad to know that's one less thing I have to worry about. Thanks

Didn't the 05 1500 come with leaf springs? I have them on my 07 4x4 1500.

RAM started using coils in the rear for 2009 model year(start of the Gen 4). The OP didn't state how new of a 1500 he was test driving, sort of figured it was at least a Gen 4 truck.

Yeah the newer 1500s ride very nice. My buddy has a 2014, and it rides just as smooth as my 2014 minivan.
