Drum to Disc conversion

About to do rear brakes and just want to do discs for better performance, anyone know where to find parts or the kit?

I'm not certain if an actual kit exists. I believe a number of people take an axle from a newer year. Best of luck!

If you get an axle with disk brakes, or retrofit disks onto yours, make sure you remove the combination valve and replace it with one from a truck that had 4 wheel disks, otherwise you'll lose braking performance under normal braking and suffer increased wear on the rear disks and pads.

Jegs sells a full conversion kit. I believe it has everything you need. $600-650

But, is it worth it to you? Considering the rear only does 30% or so of the braking and you're adding about 30% to the performance of that, for the same or less you do a dual piston upgrade to the front of your truck is older than 2000 and you'd get better results from that. For disc rears, roughly a 8-10% increase in overall braking. You can get better from upgrading the front and just running a larger cylinder in the rear

Granted, for a towing application or street/ performance build type thing, rear discs are a good upgrade to do, especially when coupled with the front
