Ok, question about replacement components for the front and crossovers. The stock system has crossovers built in for the dash tweeters and front door speakers, right? So do I need to install the crossovers which come with a set of components or can I just install the speakers on the current setup?

Are you also adding an amp for the fronts?

The stock dash tweeters have the crossover capacitor built onto them. The door and dash speaker wiring is in parallel with each other.
Yes you will need some sort of crossover if you put aftermarket components speakers in.
The 77KICK28ab is a direct replacement for the stock base audio front speakers(the dash tweeter also has a built on capacitor).

OK so I just installed the pioneers in my 16 crew cab. Easiest install I've ever done. I'll check back in after some use. The fit was perfect.

Yes, please let us know what you think. I'm guessing since you need some use the difference wasn't "wow" immediately noticeable?

How about the front door speakers, is their crossover built-in or somewhere else? I have a set of Focal RSE-165 components otw from Crutchfield. Going to use some 6.5 AD Designs coaxials in the rear, and a 6" Digital Designs sub with a Soundstream 400 watt amp in a Fox box (thx to guys here for recommending that).

There is no crossover for the door speakers, wiring come straight from the head unit.

Your components should have come with a passive crossover. You need to run the door speaker wire into that then run from the crossover to the mid bass and tweeter as directed by the instructions.

Yes they do, and I understand what you said. I was just wondering if it already had one, and I didn't need another one in the loop.

Not to thread jack, but I wanted to thank you all for getting me off my ass to finally get my radio in better order. I just did the Kicker replacement upgrade on my 14 Express with the 5.0 radio and it’s far and away so much more awesome than OEM.

Here’s the components you’ll need for the simple but oh so gratifying upgrade.

And if anyone needs the Metra/Crutchfield adapters for the door speakers or dash tweeters, I have a pair (2x) of each (as seen in the last photo). Just PM me if you need em, pay for shipping and they’re yours.

I almost forgot about the adapter for the front door speakers. There’s a pic attached as well.

Interesting, those 3.5's might be good in the dash. Thx for the head's up.

Those fit perfectly under the plastic covers on the dash, no cutting or finagling. I will say though that some ****** at the factory buggered up the alignment of one of the bolt holes so one of my screws on the driver's side went in at 30* and not straight up.

Well, well, well. My 2 sets of Pioneers came in along with the wiring adapters. Wife has to drive her mother half way to Pensacola tomorrow and give her off to her sister. Hmmm, sounds like an evening in the garage my be in order. BUT, the head index right now is 105. SOOOO, I may just meet my brother for beers afterwork. The wife will go to the pool Saturday all day at the health club. So I imagine, you'll see my writeup then. Unless you want a review of the nuances between DOS XX Lager and Amber.

The Amber is the less superior beer.
