Extend OEM Running Boards

I have a 2017 Ram 2500 with the stock OEM running boards. I am doing a level lift and would really love it if I could lower my running boards about an inch to help with my elderly Dad for him to be able to get in out a little easier. Has anyone done this or suggestions. Really don't want to spend another $1500 for Amp Steps.

You Could probably have someone fab up some drop plates with some 1/4” stock but it would probably have to be more than 1” drop

The stock ram steps drop pretty low as is. From looking at pics, they drop lower than most nerf bars and aftermarket steps out there. I'm in the same boat but will probably go with Amp / Bestop / or Rock Slide steps after X-mas.

Your Dad would really appreciate the AMPs, be better to spend $1500 than risk him fallling

I think I'd just bring along a small step/box/platform to put down on the ground to make access easier...

Don’t laugh I actually have one... In the bed for my wife, she uses it when ever she is cleaning the truck, or having to get Bed accsses.

I have these NFab Adjusteps. They are about 1/2 the price of the electric ones and can be adjusted up/down and inboard/outboard about 4". Mine are set in the middle in the pic.
