i bought myself a kimber pro carry this weekend and im pretty happy since ive been wanting a 1911 forever. I havent gotten to take it out to the range yet but i loaded it up with some hornady critical defence rounds i had and inserted the magazine while it was locked back and when i pulled the slide back to load the round into the chamber it did not want to go into battery smoothly have any of yall run into this problem? it seems like i either have to drop the slide hard or pull it back and help it forward a little to chamber a round. its my first 1911 so maybe its because i havent shot it and those were hollow points so maybe i gotta use fmj rounds first?

Assume you cleaned it and oiled it first? They often come from the factory with packing grease that can harden and lessen function.

Are you using factory mag. I run Wilson 47D mags and haven't had problems feeding since.

Nice looking 1911, Its my favorite handgun of all time.

eta, I like the condition one photo. Also I like to use wooden golf tee so you don't get the dreaded idiot scratch upon reassembly

    +1 on Wilson 47D's. That's all I use.

Clean it, lube it, take it to the range and put at least 500 rounds of ball through it before feeding any hollow points. This will break it in and help smooth out the feed ramp. One weak spot I've always found on Kimber's was the extractor. If you run in to extraction or ejection issues (dinged brass) pick up a Wilson extractor and have it tuned by a respectable 1911 smith. I carried a Pro Carry II for a long time. Very reliable after some fine tuning. Now I carry a Dan Wesson CBOB with a Clarks carry melt. But I'd bet my life on either.

Well still haven't gotten a chance to shoot it but I did field strip it and clean it and you guys were right it had lots of gunk everywhere so I cleaned it up lubed it and now the rounds go right in no problem hopefully they keep going like that when I start shooting also...I have the factory mag and I bought a kimpro tac mag because that's all they had at the store but I'll for sure order some of those Wilson mags.. Now I know everyone has their own likes and dislikes but any opinions on a good iwb holster for it?
