I've seen a bunch of people on the forum that have leaking exhaust manifolds due to busted bolts. A lot seem to be opting for headers. My question is: why not just get them fixed using the 5 year/100,000 Mile power train warrant?

I looked it up and exhaust manifolds are specifically listed as covered items up said warranty. I too have bust manifold bolts. I am going to be calling my dealer today to get this fixed.

Have people not had luck getting dealerships to cover this? Or is it just an excuse to get headers?

I think it's because they get replaced with the same crappy bolts and just break again

Oh. Super. Well I guess I'll just keep taking it back to get fixed until I hit my 5 year mark. Then it's headers for me!

Mine was under the 100k mile but a little over the 5 year mark . No luck had to replace them out of pocket. But used better bolts so it shouldn't happen again. At least not on the passenger side. They seem to break anytime after 60k miles

How did you get the dealership to use better bolts? Mine is a 2014 with 45k miles so I know it will be covered. I have the classic ticking on cold start up that goes away after about 30 seconds. I just can't tell which side it's coming from.

Ramcares, I am scheduled to take it to the dealership this Friday at 9 am. I'll reach out to you if they give me any crap.

I have an 09 which came with lifetime warranty...

For the original owner... all others got 3/36 I believe. So when both sides failed before 100k I was still screwed. I am now at 145k and doing them again!

The guy at the dealership said the exhaust manifold is covered by the 5/100k and you don't need to be the original owner. The RAM warranty manual also says this.

This is correct as I understand it because emissions are mandated to pass to 100k miles and leaking exhaust manifolds are a violation of that requirement. I had mine done right at 98,000 and there was no question at all about warranty coverage. The passenger side manifold actually started leaking before I had the truck for one year, maybe around 10-11 months and around 23,000 miles. The driver side bolts started failing at around 95,000 miles and that's when I said enough and took it in.

i had mine fixed at no cost on my part. covered by the 5year/100k. the first dealership i contacted fed me some BS saying it wasn't covered, i called them out and they still gave me lip. called another dealership and had no problems, the second didntd even mention warranty, just said bring it in and we'll take care of it! i believe there is also some epa 8year/80K emissions warranty or something that all/most vehicles have that you may be able to use as an argument as well, but don't take my word on that one.

Sorry, new Ram Hemi owner here, and only have 2200 miles on mine. How do you know when you have broken bolts. Past experience has shown that exhaust bolts don't break until you try to remove them. Are you all saying that these break on their own?

Yes they just break on their own.

I think im goin oem
Just got pass manifold off
Not bad
Top rear broke flush. Gonna have a buddy weld a nut on and try to remove.

Manifold does seem warped.
Think im gonna have it planned from other advice

So plan
Extract bolt. Probs 50 buck
Plane manifold 50
New bolts and gasket 50 ish

150 buck per side doing most work myself

I wonder i should attempt drivers side if none are broke yet?

Does this seem like a valid solution.
No really into dropping money into headers unless price is right.

The only downside of putting factory junk back on is you will have to eventually do it again.

How do you check to see if the bolts are broken, I have noticed that my truck started ticking when I start it up in the morning, but it goes away after a minute or so
