Thinking about getting the 183 and rid of the factory clutch fan but wondering how this fan and controller has endured after years of use?

In weighing whether to get a factory Taurus or other unit vs the new 183 my biggest concern is longevity. If the Flex a lite is just as robust and reliable as a factory fan unit I would most likely (for the convenience) just purchase and install it.

On the other hand, if it does not stand the test of time, I would rather spend more time and less $'s modding something that is more reliable.

In all the reviews I've read so far the weak link seems to be the controller and while some say Flex a lite was good in simply shipping them a new one free of charge, others say they weren't interested because it would cost them 130.00 or so?

I'm also interested in hearing from people who tow, and more interestingly, people who tow/ daily drive in hot climates like Texas and further south. Any trouble with the 183 keeping the Hemi cool under extreme hot conditions?

All opinions and info are greatly appreciated!

I’ve had it for about 6 years. Only problem I’ve had was it seemed to melt a couple fuses, but I think it was the connection in the area that was the problem. Still on the truck am happy with it

Ive had one for 2 years. No issues.

Just get the thermostat probe that actually goes into the coolant. Flex-a-lite 32050 Temp Sensor. Other wise its a pain to get the fan turn on temp set exactly right.

Great information. So that is an extra part that doesn't come with kit correct?

Thats right. It comes with a probe that goes in the rad but its not accurate enough.

Ive had mine for 5 years now with no problem at all. I tow a 20ft enclosed race car trailer, truck is lifted 6" on 35" tires, and i live in the mountains of PA and I have no overheating issues at all.

Great feedback everyone!

Definitely made my mind up. Pulling the trigger on this mod in the next week or two!

Does anyone have reports of increased MPG?
I understand that it frees up the engine from the clutch fan. Do you see better performance in city driving?

I would imagine stop and go traffic but especially on hot days it should make a difference.

My plan is to install the ATI underdrive pully at the same time and kill 2 birds...….
