Is there anyway to test whether the knocking sound im hearing is the flywheel or a rod bearing starting to go? The knock is not loud and is heard best from the frontpassenger side fender well in less you actually climb underneath. Once down their its hard to confirm whether the sound is coming from around the oil pan ir from behind the plate that houses the flywheel. Was hoping someone knew an easy way to confirm which it is?

Try listening with a stethiscope or a very long scrwedriver at different parts of the oil pan and the TC cover.

Will do. Im assuming the hope is that it is not coming from the oil pan but from the TC cover?

A little extra information for everyone. The ticking or knocking noise starts a few minutes after start up. It does not get louder or increase in rhythm with increased Rpms. The noise stays consistent in park, neutral, reverse, drive etc. and isnt very loud. I was very surprised that increased rpms did not increase the volume or speed of the sound.
