I fellas, am I correct in thinking that the minimum fuel pressure is 47 psi? I'm having a problem that the truck will start and rev up to 2000 Rpms and drop to 1000 stutter and die. Rented a fuel pressure kit (was a new one) and hooked it up to the Schrader valve on the fuel rail. getting 35 psi and dropping to 23. Fuel pump is running its **** off with a smooth and steady whirr. The pump shuts off at 35 psi. What else controls the pressure?? The PO swears that the pump was changed about a month before I bought it. And this truck sat a while before I bought it.

Yeah, normal fuel pressure should be around 50-55 psi. Maybe a defective pump?

My Jeep had similar symptoms a few years back. Wasn't east to see or find, but there was a small crimp in the fuel line where it went through the firewall.

If it is a 03 the pressure should be 48psi while running. If it is 04+ the pressure should be 58psi while running.
