I have a 2016 2500 6.4 and my wife has a 2017 1500 2017. The 1500 is definitely a smoother ride (as would be expected) and sounds much meaner (even after Mufflex) but after driving a 3/4 ton I don't ever want to go back. I'd love a Cummins just for the C on the side of my truck, but it's a lot of money and the 6.4 meets my needs and then some.
I keep seeing you talk about mpgs in the Cummins over the Hemi, but you're going to have to have that truck for a loooooot of miles for that to pay for itself. Between the almost $8k tacked onto the Cummins, and then (at least in my area) the cost of diesel still being a good bit higher than unleaded.
Think about it this way: if you're financing, is the monthly payment difference between the two going to be made up by your fuel costs?
But at the end of the day, if I could have what I want I'd go out and trade my truck in for a Cummins today. If you've got the money get what you want, just stop trying to convince yourself you're doing it for the mileage
