295's will fit ok on the chrome clad rims???

I put my front shocks at 2.8, a inch rear spacer in the back and I have on 295/60 Nitto G2's on my 20 inch chrome clad wheels. Not rubbing what's so ever.

Hey guys, I installed the Bilstien's at 2.1 and have about half inch of rake. A lot of the times the front looks nose high though but I still need to get my alignment done.

I am going to install some Ballistic Rage 959 20X10 -19 offset with 33X12.50X20. Is there a chance I will run into any problems running this size with my leveled suspension? I have searched around and it seems I will be okay, but the guy at Mr. Wheel Deal says it is outside of the parameters they recommend and he has me nervous.

I don't want to spend that much and have them rub.

Thanks

Once the alignment is complete the front end will come down a touch.

That wheel and tire setup will fit no problem. You shouldn't have any rubbing issues or anything to worry about.

The majority of guys don't. They just throw the 35's on and leave the speedometer and odometer alone. However the guys that do change it are either using a tuner such as a Bully Dog GT or using a Hypertech Speedometer Calibrator.

How far off will the speedometer be, if only a couple of MPH then not worth getting a tuner to change it.

Going from stock 275/60/20's to 35x12.5's will put it out by 6%. So with your speedometer reading 60 mph you'll actually be traveling 63.6 mph.

So except for the two slightly wider tires mentioned in the OP's post, I can fit 35 12.5 20s on a stock wheel with the front end leveled and 1/4 inch spacers with minor rubbing at full lock? Just want to double check since I need tires very soon and I'm debating 35s or 295/60/20s.

Yes that is correct. I recommend 10mm hub centric spacers from Motorsport Tech if you want to run 35x12.5's on stock wheels.

Thanks for the info. I have 1/4 inch spacers on there now so I guess I'll see how much rubbing there is and get wider spacers if I need to. Thanks again.

Bilstien Struts

Brandon,

I know this article has a little time on it but was hoping you wouldn't mind answering a question.

I have a 2014 4X4 crew cab in stock configuration. I read your article and it makes a lot of sense so I want to go with the Bilstien 5100 struts on the front of my truck. According to one website the part number for my truck is 24-187367. When I go to the 4 Wheel Parts web site and look at that part number it says "this part number won't fit you 2014 Ram 1500 4X4." I wanted to use this company because they are a site sponsor.

Any and all help appreciated,

As RLK said, that is the correct part number for your truck. May just be a case of 4 Wheel Parts not updating their website properly.

Quick question to make sure I'm understanding the offset correctly. If I have 2 wheels that are 17" diameter, 1 with a 0 offset and the other with a 19mm offset and both have the same tire on them. The wheel with the 19mm offset should stick out basically 19mm farther then the 0 offset..... correct???

I believe you got it backwards ... a -19mm would stick out 19mm s

As RLK said, you have it backwards. A 0 offset essentially has the mounting surface of the wheel centered. A positive offset moves the mounting surface towards the outside of the wheel which in turn pulls the entire wheel/tire further under the truck. A negative offset moves the mounting surface towards the inside of the wheel which in turn pushes the entire wheel/tire out from under the truck. The picture on the second post in this thread shows this.

So to answer your question a +19 offset would be tucked under the truck 19mm more than a 0 offset given the same wheel width and tire specs.

Ok, yeah I meant -19mm, sorry about that.... negative sticks out and positive pulls the wheels in closer.

Hey Brandon, can I run a 35 x 12.5 x 20 Kumho Road Venture MT KL71 tire on my factory 20" chrome clads??? They have a overall diameter of 34.8". I have my Bilsteins set at 2.8" in the front and plan on adding a 1" spacer in the rear if needed once everything settles. Thanks!!!
