I have had my Bilsteins for a couple of months now but haven’t had them installed yet. I have a 2016 Laramie 4x4. I also purchased rear Bilsteins and 1.5 rear spacers. Here’s my dilemma, I still have the stock tires so my concern is that it will look like way too much fender space. I have also been researching tires like crazy and I would love to keep the 275/60/20 when I replace them, just in a more aggressive tread.

My reasoning for keeping the same tire size is that I am pretty cheap and I drive a ton of miles for my job. It seems like any tire size bigger than stock is ridiculously expensive compared to stock. The tires I am leaning towards are the Falken wildpeak all terrains.

I have scanned all of the pictures in most of these Bilstein threads and there aren’t a lot of people keeping the stock tire size.

To test the looks of the truck I jacked up the front until it was exactly level with the back because if I understand correctly 2.8 with a stock rear should be close to level. To me it didn’t seem to have too much fender space and I think(hope) that the same size tire in an all terrain would be fine??

My appointment is tomorrow and I am second guessing going 2.8 with the 1.5 rear on stock sized tires! Help ease my mind either way, please!

Hi, 2.1 with stock rear is level. 2.8 without 1" rear spacer will have rake.

This is mine at 2.1 up front only with stock atm tires. I have about .5 inch of rake. I am going to install a 3/4 in rear spacer for hauling/towing purposes in the future.

2.1 if you’re going to keep stock tires. I put mine at 2.8 with 1.5” rear coil springs. I have 275/65r20 tires. They’re about an inch taller than stock.

Thanks for the suggestions. I think I am going to go at 2.8 with the rear 1.5 spacers. If it looks like too much fender space I will just bite the bullet and pay more for tires that will look good! I took a before pic just now and I will post a before and after when it’s done today

Well, here she is before and after. I am happy I went 2.8. I think 275/60/20 all terrains will look just fine.

Looks great! Best part is you have the height set if you want to go bigger with the tires

Yes, my thoughts exactly!

Does anyone have tire advice? From what I have found all 275/65/20 are e rated and much more expensive and I image rougher riding?? So, is there a tire out there that is about an inch taller than 275/60/20 that won’t break the bank?

This is mine leveled with Bilstein 5100 at 2.1 with Mevotech UCAs, Copper ATP 275 65 R20 on Fuel Mavericks 20X10 -24. sticks out about an inch. they fill the wheel well quite nicely, No Rubbing and No trimming.

Curious, If everyone puts the 5100s on in order to level the front end then why put rear spacers in also? Wont you be in the same racked mode just a little higher?

On some trucks when the fenders are the same height it appears the front is higher than the rear so some add a small spacer or real lift coils approx. 3/4" to 1.5" which is a lot less than the 2.5" to 3" rake you started out with stock. The trucks with the sport hood are worse about "appearing" to be nose high because of the bulge of the hood itself. Yes you could just only raise the 5100's half-way and not add the rear spacer but then you cant fit as large of a tire. Most that add the 5100's want the max lift height but not everyone.

Mine at 2.8 would’ve looked nose high especially with the sport hood. I like a bit of rake for hauling, just not the ridiculousness of the factory rake.

I was pretty much in the same boat as you. I actually bought the stock tire size in the Nitto Terra Grapplers and ended up taking them back to discount tire two days later and trading them in for 285/65R20’s. They only charged me the difference between the tires. No mounting or balancing. Here is a pick of the two side by side. Not super noticeable but I did get an extra inch of lift out of them also.

Hows everyone's CV angles on 2.1 & 2.8. I've seen a few At 2.1 that look perfectly parallel

Here is my truck I just finished recently. Bilsteins at 2.1 with 3/4 rear spacer. These are the tires youre looking into also. Falken Wildpeak AT3W in 275/65R20. I felt the stock size looked a tad small on my truck. These are the best pictures I have. Sorry, I cant figure out why they always turn sideways but hopefully this will help. I personally love the way it sits now and looks. As for the tires, yes they do ride a tad rougher but I am still experimenting with the best psi to run them at. I contacted Falken about what to run them at and they suggested 46 unloaded and 50 loaded since it is an E rated tire. The OEM specs call for 35psi and they said that would be too low. The tire shop had them at 55 when I got it back and I've noticed a huge difference going down. Im currently at 48 and am pretty happy with it. Road noise isn't bad at all. Hardly noticeable unless you're going 70+mph. Overall, I am super happy with them. Hope this helps.
